Dobbs Stats this season

That win yesterday just bought him more time in the league...whether with Cardinals or not!
Only the third Vols QB (not counting Peterman since he's a Panther) to record a win in the NFL in like 40 or 50 years. First since Peyton.

Watched the Post TV NFL shows and kind of surprised at the lack of love thrown towards Dobbs. Yes, they said he did good but he, Dobbs slayed the Dragon! Talk about Sampson vs Goliath! And if the Cardinals had a defense, they would probably be 3-0. Whodathunkit??

Peyton, Pat Ryan, Heath Shuler, Dobbs
Yeah I know Peyton and Shuler- it was supposed to say besides those two and drafted 40 years ago. Pat Ryan was more than 40 years

Pat Ryan wasn't nearly as good as Dobbs in college, but as an 11th round pick who stayed over a decade in the NFL he's a pretty good example of the same sort of perseverance.

I'm not sure he ever even started a game in college did he?

He was a good pocket passer. He started over half one season for the Jets because of an injury to Ken O'Brien. I'm thinking the Jets wish they had a backup like Dobbs right now

Yes, a couple when Streater was hurt...I think

I think he was 0-2 in college when getting the majority of the snaps, but that was a wild year from everything I've read. Started out behind Condredge (73,74), then was hurt when CH left (75,76), and got a good amount of play in Majors' first year in 1977. Drafted 8 rounds behind our punter that year, the great Craig Colquitt who fathered a punting dynasty.

Crazier, he only got to start one year in high school. He was the backup to Tony Brantley who ended up as the punter at Notre Dame. Brantley probably looked a lot better than he was in high school because his main target was a guy named Steve Largent, who graduated the year before Ryan took over.

Actually he replaced Condredge in 1974, during the UCLA game, before Condredge came back in the 4th quarter. Then Streater got hurt in the 1977 season and Ryan played a few games in place of him. Ryan must have redshirted one of the years in between the 1974 and 1977 seasons. He was a sophomore when he came in for Holloway in the first qtr of the UCLA game.

He was a solid pocket passer. I think John Ward called him PATTON a few times.

Ok so let's get this straight....he starts one year of high school football

he goes 31-76 405 yards 1TD 5 INT for his UT career

somehow gets drafted? then spends 13 years in the NFL, 12 of them with the same team

That's a crazy story, good for Pat.

I think Jimmy was Craig's brother. Either Dustin or Britton was his son and the other was a nephew.
