What an epic fail of a thread. Is the OP this desperate to take sides with one of the freshmen QBs?

FYI, OP, Ainge was a terrific college QB, and I doubt that the coaches forced the # on Ferguson. Maybe they did.

I remember being so frustrated with Casey Clausen that by the time Rick Clausen left, I was actually happy when Jimmy committed elsewhere.

I wouldn't categorize him as great.

That's because Rick was a part of the worst season UT had seen in almost 20 years. Casey was a gamer. Casey led wins against Notre Dame, Miami, Florida 2x and was one game away from playing in a national championship game.

I think it was on the CBS college network the season after he was fired Fulmer was asked why do you think your not HC at Tennessee anymore he said because I didn't get Jimmy Clausen.

Casey Clausen was a great quarterback at Tennessee?? Did Miss something??

 Ummmm... yep, ya did. Ran like a giraffe but had an overall great career (sans "I can beat Georgia with one hand tied behind my back" comment).

And, he played lights out on the road. Something we've sorely missed for the past decade.

:eek:lol:

He did run kinda funny but got the job done when he had to.

Tee was good, solid, played hard when he needed to, but not "great," IMO.

If we didn't have the defense we did in 1998, we don't win the NC. Fact.

We don't even go to the NC without that D, because without them we wouldn't have even beaten Florida that year.
