:eek:lol:

He did run kinda funny but got the job done when he had to.

Yeah, he was a pathetic runner. I used to close my eyes every time he'd take off out of the pocket, not unlike I closed by eyes last season (and sometimes this season) with Palardy kicking. :)

if we don't have tee, we don't win it either

StopTheHate.....ItSoundsRidiculous

Who said anything about hate....? I said he was a good, solid player...

The defense bailed us out of Syracuse and Arkansas. The offense finished the job.

Non-sense.

Clausen was a gamer. He was not particularly physically gifted. He was surrounded by great, not good, talent. Martin would have won another NC with that talent. That talent would make any of the current QB's look good.

Nothing against Clausen... but he had a mediocre arm at best and wasn't that accurate either.

He was probably the most accurate qb we have had since Manning thats what made up for his lack of arm strenth.

I liked Casey and I do believe he was an above average QB. Not because of his physical abilities but because of his heart, pride and his knowledge. The only time I was really disappointed with him was the FL game at TN when he fumbled several times at the end of the first have with our end zone at his back. It was pouring the rain so that did play a part.
I watched him work out for NFL scouts in the sports complex after his Sr. year. He certainly didn't have all that strong of an arm or the greatest quickness, etc. BUT, when the lights came on and the game was being played he gave all he had. He truly was the west coast gun slinger that had no fear.

Casey might not have been the best overall QB, but he won tough games, gave his ALL for Tennessee, and was a damn warrior.

Casey was the best qb since Peyton.

I thought Ainge was a better pure passer than Casey. The stats may not back that up but I think he had a better arm.

Tee Martin was definatly a better college QB than both but I hate to give him love bc he turned us down.

Ainge had a better arm, Tee had better wheels. Would still take Casey over both.

The problem people have with Casey, myself included, is that he was/is a grade A pr!ck. But he was a tough guy. Won a bunch of road games and should've won us an SEC title. But he also ran his mouth a lot, which culminated in his last game aganst Clemson in which he was flagged for cursing the ref and pushed us put of makeable fg range and cost us any shot of coming back in that game. As a senior, no less.

The problem I have with calling Casey a great QB is that we were not far removed from the days of a great QB in Peyton and even less far removed from the National Championship. He didn't take us to a BCS game and he didn't get us back to the title game. That was the expectation back then every year. Given the current state of the program, I'd take Casey now. But back then he was a disappointment in my own personal opinion because we never got back to the BCS. The word great is often misused, as it is in this case for Casey Clausen. Go ahead fire away.

Casey wasn't punk to me when i asked for a picture and autograph at the 2012 FLA game. so to each their own...

I remember being so frustrated with Casey Clausen that by the time Rick Clausen left, I was actually happy when Jimmy committed elsewhere.

I wouldn't categorize him as great.

I remember having similar frustrations with Manning. This is not a Peyton bash just the truth.

Winning makes the QB great imo.
Casey won a lot.
