Wasn't he known as the "The Iceman?" You couldn't rattle Clausen.

Yep Iceman as in the movie Top Gun. We also called him chicken legs when he ran -- not because he couldn't run either (he could) but because he had such a high step. :eek:lol:

Someone please tell me why we're still seriously bashing a 34-10 QB who was 14-1 on the road. Have people been hibernating for the last 6 years or something?

Yes, Vol fans have had their heads burried in the sand due to embarrassment the last 7-8 years and have more excuses than Carter has Liver pills

We don't even go to the NC without that D, because without them we wouldn't have even beaten Florida that year.

That's true.

How many years could we have won it with that 98 D?

Probably would be easier to say 05, 08, 10, and 11 no. The rest would've been possible.

Two of the greatest Qb's to play at Tennessee have wore this number Holloway and Casey Clausen. Ferguson is stuck wearing Erik Ainge's Number. While this really doesn't mean much it is interesting a to why dobbs suddenly switched numbers...

Guess this settles the QB argument. Dobbs is in a redshirt...

With all respect to Tee Martin, he wasnt close to as good as Clausen.

Non-sense.

Clausen was a gamer. He was not particularly physically gifted. He was surrounded by great, not good, talent. Martin would have won another NC with that talent. That talent would make any of the current QB's look good.

Nothing against Clausen... but he had a mediocre arm at best and wasn't that accurate either.

What an epic fail of a thread. Is the OP this desperate to take sides with one of the freshmen QBs?

FYI, OP, Ainge was a terrific college QB, and I doubt that the coaches forced the # on Ferguson. Maybe they did.

uuhhh wasn't Ferguson #10 in high school

We will have to agree to disagree then, because given the choice, I take Clausen every single time.

Tee was good, solid, played hard when he needed to, but not "great," IMO.

If we didn't have the defense we did in 1998, we don't win the NC. Fact.

if we don't have tee, we don't win it either
