Dobbs tearing it up

Can we not turn this into a Riley vs Josh quarterback competition thread?

Let's focus on the fact this kid is doing great things and giving it all he has for the University of Tennessee both on and off the field.

The ones that use the excuse that there is no time for this kids to be productive in the class need to talk to Joshua Dobbs. I love me my football, but a good education will get your further in life than sports.

Don't know about on the field, but Joshua will be very successful in the business world and probably banking it, having his own business and designing planes, awesome goal. Hopefully will be a great booster as well.

I've told you. I've assured you. Now you know it's true. He's coming, Vols fans, he's coming. The terror of opponents. The horror of the SEC. The Devil undisguised. He's coming. Dobb Goblin's gonna git 'em.

I roomed with an AE major at UT. To be able to succeed in that field AND play football, you must have extraordinary time management skills and work ethic. If he isn't a successful QB, it won't be due to lack of effort, that's for sure.

There is still hope for the young people of this country!

Hope he works out like our last QB who was an outstanding student, and actually graduated in only 3 years, if memory serves!!

Now who was that guy???? Played for the Colts for a while, then got traded to the Broncos due to injuries?????

Well I'm stumped????

.
I didn't realize that Bray graduated before he left.

Crazy how national news likes Dobbs but local is all on ferguson

The word was if Ferguson was healthy, he would have went in ahead of Dobbs. That leads us to believe Ferguson was better. I think that is why everyone calls for him. I hope they are both so good that Butch struggles to pick one. I just want the best young man on the field. Doesn't matter which.

My cousin is in his Engineering class and is barely surviving due to the several hours of work. I have no idea how Dobbs is able to do all of this...
He basically forfeits any personal down time, and it's all work 16hrs/day. Dedicated young man, but geesh...you got to have some time to unwind or you'll get burned out.

Saw him at boxing weekend and he was in Alpha Chi's dodgeball tourney philanthropy a couple days ago. He's not a robot, just a kid who manages his time well and has a lot of resources available to him to help him do that. Of course he wasn't gonna tell Bruce Feldman "I designate one hour a day to loaf around and play Xbox with my buddies", or whatever.

CBSSports

Story Volunteers QB Joshua Dobbs impressing on the field, in classroom - CBSSports.com

It doesn't matter if you make A's of C's it's all the same in the end.

Difference between an A and a C is huge to most grad programs.

Edit: when applying anyways once in there isn't much difference as long as you pass.

I've been a fan of Ferguson since he committed, but as long as we get some good qb play, I don't care which of the four starts this year

Dobbs has a great work ethic,I'll give him credit for that. Hopefully that will pay dividends in 2014 and beyond.

Yesterday, on 104.5 The Zone, Wes Rucker was asked what things had surprised him so far in Spring practice. One of them he said was how small Ferguson is. He said he had not expected him to be as little as he looks. Perhaps, he just has no body fat.

Both were tiny when they arrived on campus, the difference is that Dobbs has been able to workout and add weight to where he no longer looks like a freshman. OTOH, Ferguson had (may still have) a stress fracture that would limit him in the weight room and workouts a great deal - no high impact/no extra weight on that leg with a 6-8 weeks average healing time. That puts Ferguson behind in terms of the weight gains he'd normally have made from year 1 to year 2 by being in a college S&C program.

Dobbs is a perfect fit for a national story because it's such a good story about what a student athlete can be, and maybe should be. Furgeson is the local story because he's the relative unknown at a time when none of the other QBs exactly set themselves apart last year. I think we need to be down to two realistic options by the end of the spring.
