Dobbs to the Vikings

This is a player who has been underestimated his entire career, both at Tennessee and in the NFL.

It would not surprise me at all to see him end things with a Blanda or Kilmer-style NFL career. He will get better with age because of his intelligence and his determination to improve his game. These intangibles are keeping him in the league and he will be there for a long time to come.

He was a starter for over 2 years at UT before getting drafted

As soon as I heard JD was starting in AZ, I ordered NFL Sunday Ticket and started recording the games. I have watched every game, and he has played as good as just about any other QB in the NFL, all things considered.

His highlight reel far outweighs his few mistakes. I still say JD could get it done.

This. He definitely has struggled the last 3.5 games but before that he played 3 stellar games. Given the talent around him I would say his overall stats for the season are pretty good. I agree with you that the talent is definitely there. The Vikings offense is a huge step up from what he had to work with in Arizona. I'm interested to see how he performs because this situation might finally tell us if Josh truly is a true franchise QB or simply a good backup. He's got everything he needs to succeed offensively.

Uh...you do know that Blanda played 26 years of professional football, right? He won't even make Kilmer numbers. You can't seriously believe Dobbs will be in the league that long.

Gotta reset my DVR settings to the Vikings. I haven't watched them at all this year.

Friend at work.is a big Vikes fan.
He's been asking me all.week what to expect.
I said expect a guy that is smart with the.ball most of.the time and understands the game well.

Im.excited.to see.what Dobbs does with another opportunity.

Good deal for both teams. Dobbs was going to ride the bench with Murray back & now he gets a real shot at becoming the starter for the remainder of the season.

By a coach who never wanted him as the starter.

Dobbs forced Band Boy’s hand…then proceeded to spend the rest of his career saving his ass the same way Condredge saved Bammer Battle.

Before you claim otherwise…remember what Butch Jones considered a Tennessee-caliber starter: Worley and GTNO.

And remember who he thought wasn’t worthy of Tennessee: Trevor Lawrence.

We were lucky to have Josh Dobbs as a starter. If Butch Jones had his way, then he would only have ever been a backup option at Tennessee.

Yep. I know. The reference was in terms of growth and development. Not in terms of career length. I could have also referenced Harbaugh and Johnson, both of whom had their best years at the end of their careers.

Dobbs will improve as a player and has done so since he arrived in the league. Failing to acknowledge that says more about you than it does about Dobbs and how the NFL sees him.

Agree with most of this. The Lawrence thing is a false narrative. Butch was terrible. Dobbs coming in against Alabama and almost saving day forced his hand, thankfully. That all being said, Dobbs time here at UT is irrelevant of the NFL

Dammit I won’t ever be able to settle on pulling for one NFL team. Started the year not caring, then became a Cardinal fan, and now have to change to the Vikings in the middle of the season.
