The base R/T 5.7 liter 375 hp engine should be plenty, unless you are racing. Obviously, it can't run with a 455 hp Camaro that is 3 or 400 pounds lighter.
I do like how the challenger has a functional back seat. Also if you like to put big wheels on your car, the challenger seems to wear them with grace.
It all depends upon the individual as to which of the 3 (Chall, Must, Camaro) meets their needs the best. I could make a case for any of them. They're definitely the most muscle like of the 3. If I had kids I probably would have gotten a challenger. It's just me and my girlfriend though all I need is a passenger seat
20 inch wheels come with bigger tires in the back. 20 inch wheels are standard on SS models. If you order 20 inch wheels on the 4 or 6 cylinder, you get bigger rear tires. Also my back tires are bigger than my front tires. Why is this? I don't see that on v6 camaros
I had a 70 Challenger T/A 340 Six Pack, and 4 1970 Cudas......two 426 Hemi, one 440 Magnum, one 440 6 Pack. They are junky feeling. Poor body integrity, steering with no feel, mediocre braking, flat seats, and crappy manual shifters.Absolutely. All 3 have their pros and cons. I'd kill to own a old challenger. Old as in a 1970 challenger
That makes sense, I like the look a lot20 inch wheels come with bigger tires in the back. 20 inch wheels are standard on SS models. If you order 20 inch wheels on the 4 or 6 cylinder, you get bigger rear tires.
It is done to give the car a raked looked, and to make the car tend toward understeer if you go in a corner too fast. They really don't want you going off the road, rear end first. Understeer scrubs off speed.

The only 2 that I kept out of 50+ are my 1970 AMX that I bought new, and a 1971 AMC Hornet SC/360. They aren't the fastest, but they ain't slow. I like their small size, relatively light weight, steering, handling, shifters, etc. That is just my opinion, nothing more. That's awesome man I love old muscle cars. What's your favorite old muscle car from experience?
Awesome cars. I love the old GTOs and chevelles. Bit different but I love Bel airs alsoThe only 2 that I kept out of 50+ are my 1970 AMX that I bought new, and a 1971 AMC Hornet SC/360. The Mopars aren't much fun to drive, having poor steering feel, balky shifters, and are too big for my liking. Even the E-bodies (Cuda, Challenger) are just shortened B-bodies with shorter wheelbases and small trunks. The Mopars that I liked the best were the A-bodies ( Duster, Dart, and pre-70 Barracuda) with the 340 engine.
The GM A-body cars are nice if you like a bigger car. The performance models of those are the Buick GS, Chevelle SS, Olds 442, and Pontiac GTO. I'm not a huge fan of the F-body twins, Firebird and Camaro.
Of course, I also liked the Corvettes. They have their weaknesses, but overall fun to drive for the timeframe.
AMC used the ( best at the time) GM Saginaw steering gear and Hurst shifters. They developed their own engines and suspensions, and improved them during the Penske/Donohue Trans Am years.
Again, I could probably make a case for any of them. Depends upon what you like.
It looks like Tennessee orange too, and looks great on the Challenger. A funny story is that I ordered my 1970 AMX while I was a student at U.T. I went into the AMC dealership that was not far from the Regas Restaurant in downtown Knoxville, and they had a new one in the showroom that they tried to sell me.Orange is the obvious choice
I bet it was a beauty. I need another vehicle. May sell my 06 mountaineer and buy a older civic or accord for gas mileage. It was U.T. orange with a white stripe, obviously ordered with U.T. fans in mind. Back then, most students did not wear orange and white to the games. That was for the old folks. I politely declined, knowing that I would never live it down if I parked an orange and white car on campus. I ordered silver with a black stripe.
