With the SEC and NCAA tourney's just ahead, it's disappointing that we don't have Bruce Pearl at the helm. If Pearl had stayed we would have had Scotty Hopson, and he would have been a factor. While Coach Martin is doing his best ... it just isn't the same.

Really? You want to go back to last year when we lost by 20 to Michigan in the first round with zero discipline? And I doubt Scotty would have stayed.

Unfortunately, as much as I would love to forget it, it was 30 points.

The Michigan game was an anomaly, driven by the unnerving fact that a loss meant it was Pearl's last game.

The weird thing is that 6 months ago I would have thought that by February I'd miss Bruce Pearl. The reality is that I now wonder what last year's team could have accomplished with a coach that was more interested in getting his team to play hard and cohesively than he was in being a soundclip on Sportscenter.

I'm sure Pearl would have found someone for Maymon to sit behind other than Stevie.

In all honesty, Maymon looked like garbage in the time he did receive last year. His decision-making was questionable at best. He shot the ball nearly every time he touched it and was less than accurate.

I do, and interstingly enough, i also miss Fulmer. That doesnt mean that i dont like and support our current coaches though. I started really following and loving UT Football when Fulmer was OC, and then HC, and started really following and loving UT basketball when Pearl was hired. Thats why i miss them, they both represented something special to me. That being said, was time for both to go and Im excited about our future.

The OP's post should be more along the lines of: had there been no juniors at the cookout and thus no sanctions, ...

We wouldn't be better off this season with Pearl, a weaker roster, heavier sanctions, and a staff that's not allowed to recruit.

Absent the cookout, last season probably would have gone much better, and I think it's fair to say we'd have a better roster right now, but Pearl and his staff messed that up.

Nothing wrong with that either. Too many in this forum have an absolute mindset. They think you have to either love or hate coaches/players, and that your feeling about someone is somehow directly representative of your feelings of their counterpart. The feelings for each are not necessarily mutually exclusive.
