After whetting everyone's hunger by letting the rumors fester, does Dave Hart lose his job if he does not land Gruden? Speculation is at a fever pace, and he already has the "hates women" label on him in regards to women's sports, is the hiring of Gruden his saving grace?

Letting the rumors get to this point and not putting a stop to them bodes very poorly for him if he is not able to land the big fish. Not particularly soon, but it would be as negative as the lawsuits and women rumors when boosters look at his record down the road. Of course that is assuming the next non Gruden coach does not lead TN to a 10 win season within his first 3 years.

Will depend upon what the recruiting class looks like, how many wins he has next year and how those things compare to what people think Gruden would have brought.

Gruden came out on Mike & Mike this morning and said he doesn't have a contract in hand and isn't interested. Did that slow anything down on here, no. You had people coming up with all sorts of hidden meaning, etc.

Gruden could come out and say, "I have no interest in being the head football coach at the University of Tennessee Volunteers, located in Knoxville, TN, whose colors are orange and white." and there would be some jerkoff that would still have hope because Gruden didn't mention the away jerseys have black trim.

Who has anyone hired yet??? Kentucky got the wrong Stoops and Arkansas offered a coach they have no chance of getting... The sky is not falling, in the end it will be okay... Dave Hart should be fired if the coach is not top caliber, yes... But suggesting he should be fired because he can't get one particular person is crazy...

Should have put this to rest a long time ago. The sad part is the fact that multiple excellent coaches are available and our fan base only sees one option.

#1 They're still negotiating.
#2 He is already hired and there is a delay for various reasons.
#3 He isn't a possibility -- the AD and Gruden won't outright declare this. (Definitely terrible decision if true)

Chances are, he hasn't gave up on him. We're just expecting Jesus Gruden to walk through the door immediately. It doesn't work that way.

The hates women is a plus on his resume. Getting butches out of office can only be good for this program.

Careful... They'll say you're trolling if you start making too much sense and don't want Gruden to start with...

Everyone loses their job EVENTUALLY.
ha amend it to say within 3 years if you would like. And no not everyone loses their job eventually. He could always take a job paying more money for whatever reason but a bad coaching hire or fumbling the gruden situation would tend to look poor on his resume.

Lol! No.

His future job secutiry depends on the success of whoever is hired. Gruden or not.

If I remember correctly he didn't say "Not Interested" but he did say he didn't have a contract in hand.

Nailed it.
And I'm a huge Gruden fan. But still, you nailed it. It's amazing.

He shouldn't get fired and its not his fault if he approached Gruden and Gruden said no. What he could and should be fired for is if he approached Gruden, and Gruden said no, and Hart did nothing to squash the rumors. If the second scenario happened, then it doesn't matter who Hart hires because the fans will be in full out riot mode.

Hart broke the first rule of public relations --- He didn't get out in front of the story. Now it owns him.

I dont think he should be fired if he does not land Gruden. I am saying it is a negative mark for him if he does not. Eventually negative marks add up when evaluating a person's job, even if the positives outweigh the negatives.

He better hire a darn good PR firm if he doesnt deliver.

If no offer has been made, then Hart knows absolutely nothing about pr. Fans will be pissed off even if we hire a good coach like Patterson or Briles. Letting this rumor fester is colossal incompetence on his part.
Unless, of course, he is an evil Bama plant hellbent on crushing our hopes and dreams....

He also didn't expect a deluded fan base to be fabricating acceptance letters.
