Does Dave Hart lose his job eventually if it is not Gruden?

I am not of the belief that not hiring Gruden because of action or inaction on Gruden's part should be just cause for terminating Hart.

The Athletic Department and Dave Hart have handled the coaching search with discretion, dignity, and professionalism; it has been conducted in a way that preserves the good name of the University of Tennessee and the coaches that have been reached out to either officially or through back channels.

...or maybe he's done absolutely nothing so far and is in over his head. You have no proof either way. But we should know by the results.

I really believe the truth of the matter is that Tennessee is not going to hire someone worth recognition. Here is my opinion:

1.) If I have to Google his name to find out that he coached at Louisiana-Tech or some other school that's not worth mentioning...He is not our guy

2.) If he has a current losing record at his school in the FBS then he is not our guy

3.) If he has a winning record at a d2 school....still not our guy

good first post

What we have on this board are an overwhelming amount of posters who, unsatisfied with the proper handling of the search, have fabricated their own reality - quite literally in some cases. It's just like Christmas and finding out that the puppy-size box doesn't actually contain a puppy, so you knock over the tree and spend four hours throwing a fit because you got your hopes up without Mom or Dad ever giving a hint to what was in the box.

Maybe we should fire some "fans" instead.

5 star post, IMO...

If you google dave hart, the #1 result is a Dave Hart is a bully to women link. If he does not get Gruden, people will remember it as an epic fail, deserved or not. It will haunt him and he will have to pull a rabbit out of a hat to not start that "You're Fired!" clock counting down.

After whetting everyone's hunger by letting the rumors fester, does Dave Hart lose his job if he does not land Gruden? Speculation is at a fever pace, and he already has the "hates women" label on him in regards to women's sports, is the hiring of Gruden his saving grace?

Letting the rumors get to this point and not putting a stop to them bodes very poorly for him if he is not able to land the big fish. Not particularly soon, but it would be as negative as the lawsuits and women rumors when boosters look at his record down the road. Of course that is assuming the next non Gruden coach does not lead TN to a 10 win season within his first 3 years.

Yes, it is actually a conspiracy. Gruden says no, VN gets Hart fired, Gruden says yes to HC/AD job. Pretty simple actually.

Is this the same Dave Hart that secured an extra 18 mil to go towards our next coaching staff. I am as anxious and impatient as the next guy, but based on his press conference I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt until the hire is made.

Having said that, if I don't like the hire I am grabbing my pitchfork and heading to Knoxville. Who's with me.

What if gruden wants thing we can't and shouldn't give? Then no.

What if he lands a big time hire not named gruden? Then no.

And one last scenario...what if gruden comes here and fails?

If Hart will just level with the fans about the status of the search, the rumors will disappear. The only information we are getting is hearsay. At this point, hearsay is worth a bucket of warm spit. Somewhere in all the garbage we are hearing is a very small smattering of truth. Unfortunately, we don't really know what is fact and what is fiction.

Gruden came out on Mike & Mike this morning and said he doesn't have a contract in hand and isn't interested. Did that slow anything down on here, no. You had people coming up with all sorts of hidden meaning, etc.

Gruden could come out and say, "I have no interest in being the head football coach at the University of Tennessee Volunteers, located in Knoxville, TN, whose colors are orange and white." and there would be some jerkoff that would still have hope because Gruden didn't mention the away jerseys have black trim.

Show me the quote where he said he wasn't interested. Didn't happen. Go back and listen again.

Not a chance. Even the AD at Tennessee can not force a man to take the job here. No matter what fans think, not every coach wants to rebuild Tennessee. If your the 1st guy hired to try and fix it, sure it may be an option. When your the 3-4th guy called in and the fanbase is ready to gut someone, maybe not so much. Dave Hart will hire the best coach he can get to take the job. Money seems to be no issue. Thats all the man can do.

Why fire Hart? We've never, ever "Had" Gruden. Just because a fan base become hysterical because of one person they unrealistically believe will become a head coach simply because they want him doesn't mean the AD isn't doing his job. Not a single person can tell me how Gruden "Should" be our coach. What are any FACTS regarding this as of right now?

Probably not.. Makes you wonder though.. If he ends up with a second tier hire.. That means he actually thought Dooley was going to work out.. That would leave me thinking Hart is just a body in the AD's office...
