Does Dave Hart lose his job eventually if it is not Gruden?

Not a chance. Even the AD at Tennessee can not force a man to take the job here. No matter what fans think, not every coach wants to rebuild Tennessee. If your the 1st guy hired to try and fix it, sure it may be an option. When your the 3-4th guy called in and the fanbase is ready to gut someone, maybe not so much. Dave Hart will hire the best coach he can get to take the job. Money seems to be no issue. Thats all the man can do.

Agree. I dont think Hart is some covert Bammer trying to sink the Vols. Actually, I really think highly of Hart and I think he is doing a great job.

I think we will get the very best coach possible if we do not get Gruden. If we do not get Gruden, it will not be because Hart didnt have enough Jedi power or inadequate use of the force to bring Gruden here. If Gruden doesnt come here it will be because Gruden chose not too. If Gruden chooses not to come here, then we should want someone who does want to be here.

Hart should be fired if he doesn't get a home run hire...Gruden, Stoops, Fisher.

I personally don't think he is doing his job right now. By waiting around, he could cost us another 5 years of mediocrity.

But we do not know that he is waiting around and not doing anything.

Here is my honest and humble question to the fan base: Do we really have to know everything right away? Honestly answer that question...

Sometimes I feel like I do need to know everything but in reality I just need to trust Hart to do his job. Hart's job is not to hire Gruden. Hart's job is to make the best hire for the program and the university.

I think people's only issue is that if it's not Gruden and Hart knows it... then he should address it immediately to end this madness.

My personal opinion is that it doesn't have to be Gruden but it does have to be a big name and a winner.

After whetting everyone's hunger by letting the rumors fester, does Dave Hart lose his job if he does not land Gruden? Speculation is at a fever pace, and he already has the "hates women" label on him in regards to women's sports, is the hiring of Gruden his saving grace?

Letting the rumors get to this point and not putting a stop to them bodes very poorly for him if he is not able to land the big fish. Not particularly soon, but it would be as negative as the lawsuits and women rumors when boosters look at his record down the road. Of course that is assuming the next non Gruden coach does not lead TN to a 10 win season within his first 3 years.

No...Gruden is a hard egg to crack so if he says no it won't be for lack of trying on Harts part...He will get us someone good regardless.

Right away...no. But, going on 2 weeks after the firing of one coach, I think the fan base should be afforded at least something that indicates that the AD is taking action and going after the best possible hire. JMO

No, he shouldnt be fired. But, if he doesnt bring in any 2nd tier coaches (Fisher, Stoops, Petrino, Tressel, Patterson, Peterson, Strong), he mind as well pack his bags and resign.

HONOR THY VOLS...CHERISH THEM...

If Hart makes the hire, it will likely be Golden or Fisher, because he wants to work his contacts first. If they refuse, it will get ugly. Actually, it'll get ugly the minute Gruden refuses OTR... or when Auburn and Arky announce their hires and Hart's still diddling around, alienating donors and refusing help, like the control freak he is.

Gruden came out on Mike & Mike this morning and said he doesn't have a contract in hand and isn't interested. Did that slow anything down on here, no. You had people coming up with all sorts of hidden meaning, etc.

Gruden could come out and say, "I have no interest in being the head football coach at the University of Tennessee Volunteers, located in Knoxville, TN, whose colors are orange and white." and there would be some jerkoff that would still have hope because Gruden didn't mention the away jerseys have black trim.

worked for Saban

No, but if we are not back to competing for the SECC in 3-4 years, yes. He will have to go right along with his coach.
