Does Kirby simply have Heupel figured out?

UGA was the better team on Saturday night and the biggest advantage they had was at the Quarterback position. Beck made plays and Nico did not. UGA had 7 players make explosive plays and the Vols had no explosive play, Sampson's TD run. No explosive plays in the passing game.

Georgia has a 29 game winning streak at home. They haven't lost back to back games since the Dobbnail boot. Playing on the road in the SEC is very hard, and it's definitely something that Heupel needs to learn to do. But it's not easy. Tennessee (and Auburn) will always be at a disadvantage having to play Alabama and Georgia every year. Just the way it is.

Mark Richt went 10-3 the 2 years prior to Kirby Smart taking the job and was established coach at UGA for over a decade. Jeremy Pruitt went 8-5 and 3-7, got us into heavy recruiting violations and on top of that UT was a revolving door of coaches the decade before that. Not even close to taking over the same situation.
all of that is fair, but my point was less about the existing rosters and records and more about recruiting once the coaches got their operations up and running. Is there a thought that Heupel has another gear in recruiting?

Also, while you’re right about UGA’s record in 2015, it was about as bad as 10-3 can look. Lost big to Bama and Florida. Lost to Tennessee. Went to overtime against Georgia Southern. Won 9-6 against Missouri and 13-7 against Tech. Finished unranked. No wins over ranked teams Oof.

That's coming to an end...9 game schedules are coming, and I will be surprised if our 3 historical rivalries- Bama, Ky, Vandy- are not preserved.

The more I think about the Georgia game, the madder I get about losing to Arkansas. We weren't beating GA if played in Athens 9 out of 10 times. The 10-0 start sucked me into believing, foolish me.

A win is a win. Regardless UGA has shown stability. UT is just beginning to again. I do believe there is another gear as long as we sustain success. We have been great recruiting QBs and DL. If you have a good QB in your class, it makes it easier to recruit other guys. It's not overnight though. We've been flipping pretty much a whole roster since Heupel took over. Kirby just had to build on the foundation Richt already laid.

We were never going to beat Georgia by stringing together 4-5 15-play drives ending in touchdowns - they're too good on defense. We had to have a few big plays in the passing game, either for touchdowns or setting up touchdowns. I don't recall us having many of those against Georgia in the four years Heupel's been here. Georgia shut that completely down in 2022 when our offense was gashing everyone else. I'm guessing we've had less than 10 and probably less than five pass completions of over 35-40 yards against Georgia in that time. Kirby appears to know exactly what to do against Heupel's offenses.
Smart has the strongest roster in CFb. He also shut down Sark at Texas. His team has been stronger than Tenn on the LOS all 4 games. Sat night was the closest it’s been.

We had pretty good success running the ball. I think we should have run it more in the second half

I think we don't stick with the run enough. Especially in a tough road environment like the other night
I think that will change with Lewis. Dude has that thump and can physically handle the rock 30 touches. Sampson is great and has been a work horse. I think Lewis should have gotten about 15- 20 carries

Josh is at least one recruiting class and maybe an assistant or two from competing with Kirby on an annual basis. Patience. It's coming.

For all of the success that Heupel has had offensively, he just can't get over the hump vs Kirby. Until he beats them home or away, there will always be a question of whether or not we can be elite again. Kirby executed his gameplan same as 2022 and it worked. Not sure if he has Heupel figured out or if he just has the better athletes required to execute the plan. They don't get beat over the top very often.

Defense has improved under Banks but Saturday night proved that when it comes down to creating a gameplan and executing it against elite teams, he comes up short. No pressure on Beck all night is inexcusable. If we put pressure on him and he completes 75% of his passes, so be it. But to sit back and let him torch our defense without making any adjustments is baffling. So I would put this loss on Banks as much as Heupel. Our offense has not been complete all season and now it looks like the defense is regressing. I think the loss of Pili has been more impactful than most would have expected. Secondary is much improved however. We just have to be able to tie it all together to become elite.

10-2 is a solid year with a freshmen QB. The loss at Arky is inexcusable but we could have losses to Bama and Florida as well. GBO!
I agree totally, no excuse to not be able to pressure their qb. Most every team they have played pressured their qb.

Yes. Had no issue with that gameplan at the beginning. No idea why we didn’t adjust after halftime. I think it was going to be almost impossible to beat them in Athens regardless. I definitely would’ve liked to see how Beck did under pressure though.
He would have thrown int. just like he has in all the games where he was pressured. If you can't pressure the qb with the front 4 you have to blitz more.

“I don't think I ever made a halftime adjustment in my entire 18 year career,” Manning said during a recent appearance on the Monday night Manningcast with his brother Eli. “I think that's the biggest myth in football. You go in, use the restroom, eat a couple of oranges, and then head coach says 'Alright, let's go. '”Feb 8, 2024

Joke is on you
No, the joke IS you. And since we're looking up stuff on the web, here's one for you from a former D1 defensive coach on another forum.

*At halftime, we would talk about which fronts takes away their run concepts in specific ways. We would talk about specific plays we charted and who made the play work for either side of the ball (our defense or their offense.) We would try to send certain pressures, games, or twists to figure out how they chose block us in pass game protections. If we got what we wanted, we had a set of blitzes that attacked each style of protection. We wanted to figure out which lineman was their worst and most vulnerable. If we confirmed he could be attacked, we would bully him. We based out of a 3-4 tite front but got into some 335 iowa state style leverage as well as 353 georgia military in odd. We could manipulate our 3 down to get into a 4 down front in base or we would take our nose out to bring in the nickel to play 425 in a 245 personnel group.

Our adjustments were based on our multiplicity and ability to adjust and takeaway their best assets.*

So just because no one talked to Peyton, doesn't mean the coaches don't talk to other coaches and make, you guessed it, adjustments.

And who said that? Kind of like an anonymous source.....

You actually believe D-1 defensive coordinator are posting to online forums.......that is rich and make you the joke for believing.

Do you also believe Tony Dungy did anything with that offense without Peyton being involved? Please post less

Yes he does, I made a thread about it and several people called me dumb lol.
Agree 100%. Just like GA knows what plays to run against Banks defense. They run the same $hit every year and get torched by their TE's. For some reason, Banks can't make adjustments to stop them. Then Heupel can't make changes to do anything against the D they play on us. Lane can get guys open the entire game and completely shut down their offense. But not our Coach's.
