They also had the perfect commentators to go along with these refs. There are Georgia fans on YouTube saying TN fans are dumb and don’t know the rules lol. When the SEC wants a specific winner, they have a specific crew.
Georgia was not able to do anything on offense until the officials proved that they would not let Georgia screw up. All those scoring drives that our so called fans are congratulating Georgia on were sustained by referee intervention. Every one of them.
The Big Tuna aka Bill Parcells who has on his resume a stint as a Vandy assistant on a winning season there, noted as a great mind and talent evaluator of football noted when it comes to football, “ you ARE what your numbers say you are.”We were never going to beat Georgia by stringing together 4-5 15-play drives ending in touchdowns - they're too good on defense. We had to have a few big plays in the passing game, either for touchdowns or setting up touchdowns. I don't recall us having many of those against Georgia in the four years Heupel's been here. Georgia shut that completely down in 2022 when our offense was gashing everyone else. I'm guessing we've had less than 10 and probably less than five pass completions of over 35-40 yards against Georgia in that time. Kirby appears to know exactly what to do against Heupel's offenses.
I don’t think so our guys just aren’t making the plays on the outside. I think year 2 Nico may be the Heisman front runner. Also I would not be surprised if some guys are told to consider the portal( Nimrod, Webb, White) hav underperformed so badly this year it’s comical. In my opinion we have not been getting out schemed just they gave more talent but that gap is closing quickly. I believe Heupel is still learning on the job. We have an Elite Coach in the making. We were never going to beat Georgia by stringing together 4-5 15-play drives ending in touchdowns - they're too good on defense. We’ve had guys running open in multiple games. We could’ve beaten Florida and Bama by multiple scores, but we didn’t execute. Saturday night We ran the ball effectively against UGA for the first time since Heupel has been here. We played pretty well on offense in the first half and then had very limited opportunities in the second half because the defense couldn’t get off of the field. I think we’ve stopped ourselves more than anyone has actually stopped us this season .A lot of defenses figured out the offense this year..
Down one score, with ball late in the fourth in their place isn’t owned. And it’s pretty ignorant to sayCoaches who have beat or taken it to the wire against Kirby Smart:
Nick Saban
Lane Kiffin
Butch Jones
Former Florida coach who humps sharks
Sunbelt Billy
Mark Stoops
Eli Drinkwitz
Coaches who got owned (wasn't even
competitive) by Kirby Smart and Georgia:
Josh Heupel
Jeremy Pruitt*
* was the defensive coordinator that help Nick Saban beat Smart and Georgia in the championship game.
Even Peyton said teams DO NOT MAKE halftime adjustments that often. Yes, people were completing the assignment in the first half and not the second. Do you work out today and not tomorrow? Have you treated your wife great today and taken her for granted tomorrow? Is that her fault or yours?
I think it falls on Heupel because he lets Banks continue to do this against elite teams. Banks is scared to blitz against the Big Boys. In all of our losses since Heupel has taken over, we didn’t get after the quarterback. For all of the success that Heupel has had offensively, he just can't get over the hump vs Kirby. Until he beats them home or away, there will always be a question of whether or not we can be elite again. Kirby executed his gameplan same as 2022 and it worked. Not sure if he has Heupel figured out or if he just has the better athletes required to execute the plan. They don't get beat over the top very often.
Defense has improved under Banks but Saturday night proved that when it comes down to creating a gameplan and executing it against elite teams, he comes up short. No pressure on Beck all night is inexcusable. If we put pressure on him and he completes 75% of his passes, so be it. But to sit back and let him torch our defense without making any adjustments is baffling. So I would put this loss on Banks as much as Heupel. Our offense has not been complete all season and now it looks like the defense is regressing. I think the loss of Pili has been more impactful than most would have expected. Secondary is much improved however. We just have to be able to tie it all together to become elite.
10-2 is a solid year with a freshmen QB. The loss at Arky is inexcusable but we could have losses to Bama and Florida as well. GBO!
No. He has the SEC officials, for the most part, figured out and intimidated. We were never going to beat Georgia by stringing together 4-5 15-play drives ending in touchdowns - they're too good on defense. I 100% agree with you and this really upsets me because...Kirby has almost everyone figured out bc he has more talent than everyone else. I do believe we were the better team; I also believe we got out schemed. Really hard to beat that team; impossible to do it in Athens with that officiating crew.
He’s a very good DC. Easy to outcoach when you out talent someone. Saban for example had days where he was outcoached; he still won bc of the talent he had on the field. The margin of error is so much higher when you have more talent than the team you’re playing.I 100% agree with you and this really upsets me because...
I'm convinced Kirby is actually not all that 'smart'. I believe he has been getting by for the past five years on his talented roster. I believe that is why Saban [almost] always beat him because, with all things being equal, Kirby is easy to out coach. That's also why I believe Georgia won their first natty because, if not for injuries on the Alabama side, they would not have won the playoff game/second rematch of Alabama.
And, while on paper and composite rankings, Georgia is a much higher rated team than Tennessee. I believe coach Heupel and the staff have done a better job developing than Smart.
Like you, I truly believe we had the better team but, darn it, Tennessee got out schemed on Saturday. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Mark Richt went 10-3 the 2 years prior to Kirby Smart taking the job and was established coach at UGA for over a decade. Jeremy Pruitt went 8-5 and 3-7, got us into heavy recruiting violations and on top of that UT was a revolving door of coaches the decade before that. Not even close to taking over the same situation.I don’t get the time thing. Kirby signed a #1 class in his first full year at UGA—after going 8-5 on the field. He hasn’t been worse than fifth since then. At some point, who you are as a recruiter is established.
And I’m curious: Which UGA receivers do you think are better than UT’s guys? Which of UGA skill players from Saturday would you consider elite?
