They also had the perfect commentators to go along with these refs. There are Georgia fans on YouTube saying TN fans are dumb and don’t know the rules lol.

Just reading the title of this thread makes me laugh and dismiss it out of hand.

Kirby has been in place long enough to “figure out” the recruiting pipeline. CJH is getting there with a highly rated class this year. Once that gets into a comparable equilibrium, I would bet on CJH to win more than losing against any coach in thirds league.

Georgia is the last hurdle.

Kirby has the offense figured out in the sense that he makes sure our wr's don't get behind his defense. That and probably that 80% of our other passes are typical quick lateral passes to the boundary or hitches/outs. We very rarely consistently attack the middle of the field. I don't know if that is just because of the route tree that is in this scheme or some other reason. I know one particular 3rd down the other night we had zero guys go across middle of the field. All our guys basically ran straight into where DB's were and Nico had absolutely no where to go with ball. Zero creativity for a much needed conversion.

I would also say there is still a difference in the talent level. We are getting closer and I think Heuple will get us there. If you look at who UGA has from top to bottom, 5 stars out their ears, they should be better than they are this year.

The numbers do not lie. Kirby Smart owns Josh Heupel for now.

I don’t think so our guys just aren’t making the plays on the outside. I think year 2 Nico may be the Heisman front runner. Also I would not be surprised if some guys are told to consider the portal( Nimrod, Webb, White) hav underperformed so badly this year it’s comical. In my opinion we have not been getting out schemed just they gave more talent but that gap is closing quickly. I believe Heupel is still learning on the job. We have an Elite Coach in the making.

We’ve had guys running open in multiple games. We could’ve beaten Florida and Bama by multiple scores, but we didn’t execute. Saturday night We ran the ball effectively against UGA for the first time since Heupel has been here. We played pretty well on offense in the first half and then had very limited opportunities in the second half because the defense couldn’t get off of the field. I think we’ve stopped ourselves more than anyone has actually stopped us this season .

But to sit back and let him torch our defense without making any adjustments is baffling. So I would put this loss on Banks as much as Heupel. Our offense has not been complete all season and now it looks like the defense is regressing. I think the loss of Pili has been more impactful than most would have expected. Secondary is much improved however. We just have to be able to tie it all together to become elite.

10-2 is a solid year with a freshmen QB. The loss at Arky is inexcusable but we could have losses to Bama and Florida as well. GBO!

I think it falls on Heupel because he lets Banks continue to do this against elite teams. Banks is scared to blitz against the Big Boys. In all of our losses since Heupel has taken over, we didn’t get after the quarterback.

I would say Kirby plus everyone else has Heupel’s offense figured out. Every opposing coach talks about how simple the Vols offense is. Heupel needs to do something because what we have right now isn't working.

The defense has carried this team, the offense has been broken for a while. Everyone wants to make excuses why that is but, at some point, Heupel needs to be held responsible.

I 100% agree with you and this really upsets me because...

I'm convinced Kirby is actually not all that 'smart'. I believe he has been getting by for the past five years on his talented roster. I believe that is why Saban [almost] always beat him because, with all things being equal, Kirby is easy to out coach. That's also why I believe Georgia won their first natty because, if not for injuries on the Alabama side, they would not have won the playoff game/second rematch of Alabama.

And, while on paper and composite rankings, Georgia is a much higher rated team than Tennessee. I believe coach Heupel and the staff have done a better job developing than Smart.

Like you, I truly believe we had the better team but, darn it, Tennessee got out schemed on Saturday. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

He’s a very good DC. Easy to outcoach when you out talent someone. Saban for example had days where he was outcoached; he still won bc of the talent he had on the field. The margin of error is so much higher when you have more talent than the team you’re playing.

Mark Richt went 10-3 the 2 years prior to Kirby Smart taking the job and was established coach at UGA for over a decade. Jeremy Pruitt went 8-5 and 3-7, got us into heavy recruiting violations and on top of that UT was a revolving door of coaches the decade before that. Not even close to taking over the same situation.
