Except that they wanted to get Wright past 1000 and it was Sr day, so they let Small get a few more carries…

Plenty of seniors on the roster who didn’t get special treatment just because it’s senior day.

Can’t say that about the ones who have played meaningful playing time… it was a very Sr heavy day… Milton, Keyton, Warren, Castles… all were heavily involved in the offensive game plan

Plenty of time to play him in the 4th either way. Sampson has been our 2nd best back and this is about the 4th or 5th game he’s probably felt like they screwed him over so I’m not surprised at all these rumors are swirling.

Yep, I think you have to set a precedent or it'll be a regular thing. If someone enters the portal...boot em. If you don't stop it.. everyone will be doing it. We have to have team first players and a positive atmosphere in the locker room. He's going to get paid, don't cause tension.

Can’t really afford to let a guy like Sampson walk if Wright is gone. Have to hope Seldon lives up to the hype.

No insider info but I strongly doubt he leaves… gotta be an NIL play… only way he transfers is if wright stays which is highly doubtful.

@LWSVOL… off topic but if you do by chance have the 1996 South Carolina game I’d love to get to watch it… can never say thank you enough!

I’m not sure Wright to the NFL is as much of a foregone conclusion as suggested. This group has him 34 among running backs and an undrafted free agent.

This RB class is relatively weak… I don’t think it’s a stretch to think he’s a top 5 RB in the class… I don’t think their evaluation of him is up to date… I would however love to see him come back and if so would see Sampson leaving for sure

The song is on his story as well, posted 12 hours ago. Hopefully he’s just negotiating for more money. If not, Seldon for Heisman. Because regardless of who the RB is in this offense they are going to do very, very well for themselves.

If I had one year to impress NFL scouts before being eligible for the draft, there’s no place I’d rather be than Tennessee. NFL Contract > NIL.

Trying to 'setting a precedent' will end up having you falling behind in the portal era like Dabo.. completely different game today, that won't work

Neither will managing 85 free agents every year… coaches can work with the portal and still have boundaries.

85 free agents? Yall are making this too extreme. Last year Jalen Wright, Tyler Baron.. possibly Dylan Sampson this year..nothing wrong with taking care of top performers (or potential) through NIL, that's what its for. Telling them to kick rocks wont work well for your program

I agree that he was definitely under utilized at times this year. No way he needed 20 touches a game. Wright needed every touch he could handle. He was obviously the best back we had. Sampson needed to be in that 10-15 range. His lack usage against UF was criminal
