One has seizures where she throws up and craps everywhere (like seriously, all over the walls, etc.), another is the worst behaved dog I've ever seen, the other was so stupid it didn't even know its name and ran away every chance.

Never had any thing but rescues, only one was off his rocker cause he was beaten for half his life.

Sorry, I don't know about that specific breed. But it is a long way away to order one (in case there is a problem) and a lot of money.

I know you don't want to hear it, but have you considered a more common breed from that same terrier group? For example, I can vouch for the minature schnauzer. They are great indoors, do have long hair, very smart, trainable, plenty of energy and available all over Utah more in the $200-300 range.

Obviously it is up to you, but seems you are going a tad over the top for a first puppy. Just an opinion.

I have a year old black lab and it's one of the best/smartest dogs I've ever had by far..maybe only my old golden retriever was smarter.

Labs are awesome dogs..I'd suggest you look into one of those if you have time to play with it and let him get plenty of exercise..and we bring little bear inside pretty often to play too. When he was smaller he would tear up absolutely everything he could get his teeth on but he's grown out of it now.

I also just adopted a 2 month old chow/collie mix from a shelter down in Oxford. Super sweet puppy..I was surprised he was so playful since he was from a shelter. I thought he'd be more timid/scared but he's not at all.

Yeah, I have had five labs. They are great. Some people have them as inside dogs but I think they do better outside. If he wants a border terrier, I think he is in the market for something smaller than a lab.

Yeah I agree..just throwing out a suggestion for him since labs are such good pets and really loyal.

Kinda funny how dogs can become one of your best friends and you can tell they'd protect you with their life

Oh yeah, they are great! I am looking at # 4 and # 5 here as I type...they have me guarded on both sides...LOL!

Labs are great but don't underestimate German Shepherds. Very smart and easy to train and tend to be a bit protective. Not many Hare Krishna's come around our place anymore :)

I've had 2 mini Schnauzers, and they are great family/house dogs. Very personable, don't shed, decently smart. Overall, a great "lap dog." We lost our first one a year ago, and her son sleeps at our heads every night.

Labs kinda drive me crazy. They're too big to be that hyper, but they sure are friendly and likable.

If you think labs are hyper, then you might want to slow down on the terrier thinking. Labs are very very happy to see you at first. You let them out and they run run run. Or sometimes my wife and I walk our boys on a leash. They will pull you the first mile (they are not 'leash trained with the choker')...but then they wear down and walk alot slower on the mile coming back to the house. And that poops them out for the day.

So, if you let a lab have about 15-30 minutes per day to stretch his legs, then they are not hyper from my experiences (5 male labs over 22 years). But I do think they are too large to be an inside dog...(even though lots of people do it). They are very friendly!

It was OE, so it's a certainty that he was joking.

In a perfect world I would have a blue Dane that lives a healthy 15 years. There's nothing like that dog, aesthetically speaking.

Wow! Never seen one of those. Very nice. At my last house, one neighbor had a Weimaraner named Duchess. Very pretty dog in that gray type color...gorgeous blue eyes, soft smooth fur. She could jump about 8 feet high it seemed. They are high strung...(or, that one was anyway). My labs would chase her around for about ten minutes, then they would collapse.

I will always have one breed because I know what I'm getting with it. I get them from my dad and will probably get one from another breeder that uses his if/when he decides to stop. While many have positive results with rescues you never quite know what you're going to get. Of course in my town 90% are pit bulls from "across the tracks" so I have a pretty good idea

Our Shepherd helping us with yard work. Can't keep her out of the local pond. Acts like a lab when it comes to water.
