Both my little guys were attacked by a pit bull yesterday. The first day since covid that I have to drive to Knoxville to be at the corporate office. They were both on a leash. Fiancé was taking them to the bathroom and it sprinted at them from the hill above our house. It went after our basset hound, my fiancé was able to kick it and stop it and then our dachshund mix sprang into protection mode. The pit bull pinned him to the ground and attacked him. Fiancé dropped the leash for our basset and he ran into a bush by the front door to hide while she kicked and punched the pit bull until she was able to get our dachshund away from it. He had to have surgery but he’s going to make it. 14 stitches and a drainage tube sticking out of him currently. 717D1BF3-75CE-45A0-B940-62668449C72F.jpeg

Hope they’re going to be ok.
Who owns the loose pit?
(Another reason to carry. Glad the Pit didn’t go after your future wife)

Glad they are okay. My brother was attacked by a loose dog in the neighborhood two weeks ago. He went in protection mode for his son since they were running together. It was not a pit bull, but why do people ever think loose dogs are okay. It only takes one time.

That’s awful! Damn irresponsible owners. Poor dachshund mix, especially!

Glad they will be ok, and your fiancée too. She’s a keeper.

We don’t know for sure. He didn’t show up until she was in the car and even then she didn’t realize it was his. He just came running up and asked what happened. After she left our neighbor watched him take the dog. She got a description of him and someone got him on their ring doorbell camera with the dog. Police came and got the video and statements and vet bills. We live in a townhouse complex and the front office is trying to figure out who it is, but he told someone it was his brothers dog. We think either him or the dog don’t live here just not sure which.

Thank you, and yes she is. We are lucky it didn’t hurt her. She’s got a huge bruise on the front of her leg from kicking the pit while she was trying to get it off our dog. Also just as an update he woke up this morning in some pain but he’s also finally ate and took all his medicine. He’s been resting mostly but he can move around and had no problem walking around outside to go potty.

That's awful. I'm a Pit owner. They can be the sweetest dogs. But they tend to be owned by jackwagons who think they should be mean or aren't up to the responsibility.

You got some gorgeous puppers there. I'm glad they're going to be OK. If you know who owns the dog that did it, you should definitely report it. There are some good PitBull rescues around and that dogs would be better off with them, from the sound of things.

Edit

Saw your above post on who owns the dog. Who the @#$& let's their dog off a leash in strange place? Irresponsible @$$hole.

We took Biscuit to the vet this week. I'm happy to report she(the vet let us know the gender) is in good health. They gave her some wormer and told us to keep doing what we're doing. She's eating like a horse and is starting to get as playful as a 3ish week old kitten can. Also she's still cute.

She’s cute ( for a cat) but her eyebrows are almost as unruly as mine

Thought I would give an update on our little guy. He got his drainage tube taken out today. Vet said he is healing well. He’s eating well, moving around great, and has no problem going to the bathroom. Still haven’t had any luck finding the dog that attacked him or it’s owner. Had a very unpleasant conversation with the front office of our complex. I truly don’t care about the money or anything at this point. I just want them to send out an email to the residents here to let them know there was a dog attacked and to potentially be on the lookout and they refuse to even do that. Regardless, Ranger is doing fantastic and he will get stitches out in another 11 days. 481B9825-A674-42E4-84DD-668F468F5DCC.jpeg
