Dogs of VolNation and other pets that are inferior to Dogs

Storm passed this evening. He was 14. It was unexpected but not traumatic. He had his dinner then laid down and didn't wake back up. I'll never forget him deciding he liked us better than the neighbors and just moving right in. I'm gonna miss that big Ole marshmallow.

Sorry for your loss. It's so damned hard to say goodbye and each time I say "never again". But they give us so much love and joy, I can't help but think life without our dogs just isn't nearly as rich or worth the living. It's like we were made for each other and never complete when apart.

Millie had been a little down after Storm's passing. She's been sticking to us like glue. So we have to humor her.

Hiro was that way for 3-4 weeks after Ash passed. We have just tried to play with him more to take up their play time. They were only brothers for about 6 months,

Millie is doing alright so far. My way of dealing has been to dote on her. So hopefully that's helping. We'll end up with another bully dog before it's over with though. Mrs. HateSteve is really missing Storm.
Did the same and have really been focusing on Hiro's training. We get to spend some good time and he loves to train. Now if I could unlearn him how to open the shower door and steal wash rags...He's actually starting to understand his commands in Polish really well.

Millie is too smart for her own good. It's the Aussie in her. She just didn't know what to do without Storm. So it's like we are relearning to do stuff without him. She hasn't figured out the door yet. But she gets things down from places I'm still trying to figure out how she got up to.

Had to set up a phone and record how he does it to figure it out. Takes both paws and gets up on vanity counter standing on hind legs and then L paw on door handle and pulls. takes him a couple of times but he opens it and grabs wash cloth off the bench on the back of the shower. Takes it out to bedroom and rolls all over the top of it. Just cleaning up for dinner.

Millie is either an amazing jumper, or has trained the cats to do her bidding.

People (me) can be so stupid:
If i want to have the bathroom to myself I have to be sure and close the door completely so Doc can't push it open with his hard head. If I don't close the door he comes in and watches for a moment then leaves. I always thought this was weird until............I realized I've taken him out for years and watched him pee n poop.........so he's just doing what I've taught him to do !!!!!!!!!!!
