So many uncalled holding and flagrant PIs. Didn’t matter since we sucked but was still glaring.
Nah, there was missed calls on both sides. It was an evenly called game. Even that personal foul they called when Nico was hit into the ground, that was NOT a penalty. We caught a break on that one.

I 100% disagree that UGA isn’t as talented. Completely controlled Texas on the road and at a neutral.
Don’t care what Georgia did to Texas. Ohio State has the better talent. Ohio State has three NFL WRs, a great pair of RBs, defensively appear good everywhere. How the hell that team lost to Michigan is a real question?

What bothered me the most was the lack of heart. I didn't see much leadership on the field. I will rewatch the game but I don't remember any players holding each other accountable. SMH

Tennessee was outcoached and Ohio State wanted it more. Tennessee does not and will not have the players of the Ohio States caliber to compete in playoff games now or in the future. I thought Tennessee was over the hump of getting blown out on national TV. Not feeling good for next year

You bought into the hype of this game.
Most fans would, but OSU was the only team we’ve played all year that pure talent advantage and coaching advantage. UGA is not as talented as this Ohio State team.
The talent on that OSU team- should not have lost twice this season. The feeling I had watching that game was similar to Nebraska 1997 vs Tennessee.

WHAT DID YOU ALL ACTUALLY EXPECT TO HAPPEN?

That game was lost before it started.
They knew how to stop our schedule (same as Georgia). Except unlike Georgia- Ohio State has the best WR in college football. An All -SEC Rb that is now part of a 1-2 punch for the Buckeyes.
They were clearly more talented and better prepared.

Solution- play the younger more talented guys sooner and bring new blood into the offensive room of coaches.

Just to be clear- Keenan Pili could have been healthy. Cam Seldon could have lived up to his talent. Mike Matthew’s could have been used much more and none of that would have changed the outcome tonight imo.
Ohio State still hasn’t played their A-Game and we were never a threat to them. And we’ve got some good talent- but we need more.

Ohio States starters were better and their bench was as well.

It was good for them to actually play a legitimately more talented team that was motivated.

I’m not saying anyone is stupid for being upset…
Or feels like our coaches aren’t good enough.
I’m just being honest in that Ohio State has a ton of future NFL players and we never stood a chance if they were motivated.

The seasons over.
- focus on the new class for 2025.
- Transfer Portal
- adding depth to the coaching staff.

I think Tennessee exceeded expectations.
Time for them to rest up and get ready for Winter S&C.

The issue is we are not closing the gap with our recruiting and I am NOT sure we can.

Bothered me as well.

You ever tried your absolute hardest but the other guy is just that damn much better than you? You had Smith on one side that looks like a young Calvin Johnson and Egbuka on the other side that’s probably a first or second round pick at the worst. Oh an I forgot Tate as well. We’re getting better in the secondary but we’re still a long ways from being able to stop a team like that.

People can say outcoached or whatever. Probably is some merit to that but Ohio State brought a machine gun to a fist fight last night. We had no chance. You give any coach, staff, etc this team vs that one and it’s a loss 9 out of 10 times.

If we had CB's that would turn their heads around you could take two of those osu TD's off the boards.

Our OL looked like they had never played football before.

Michigan and other teams slowed down that WR room. I do think we were out matched but our coaching staff never adjusts to address our weaknesses.

I am being honest, very good chance we are seeing Josh Heupel's ceiling at TN. If last night was as good as you want TN to be, then Josh is your guy.

Is anyone else concerned about the lack of development from our HS recruited players under Heupel?

Heupel has 3 classes with at least 1 season of experience before 2024. How many players from those classes are "impact" players?

By my count probably just 2. James Pearce and Dylan Sampson. Even then, Pearce has been impactful from day 1 so I would say his talent level is the discriminator and not his development. Dylan was given the lead role this year so his stats are "better" but he flashed the same talent in his first 2 years so development appears to not be a major factor.

The portal plays in important role but you can't build a whole team from the portal. A program needs HS recruits who develop into more than just serviceable level players if the goal is to be a competitive top 10 team. Obviously after watching last nights game, we have not reached that goal. There are many discussions on the need to improve recruiting to a top 5 level which in this day & age may prove to be a difficult task to achieve consistently but the shear lack of development by our HS recruits needs to be addressed.

As mentioned many times, this falls on position coaches. Going into year 5, an executive of an organization (head football coach) needs to evaluate everyone's fit & contribution to the sole goal. This offseason will be very interesting to see what Heupel does to address obvious shortcomings in his organization.

His ceiling offensively was 2022. This year was a much better defense. Key is getting all that on the field at the same time. The team we faced was a twenty million dollar roster; just not sure how often Tennessee will be able to spend in that range.

If you're looking at the program as a whole......everything is getting better and better. The fact that the final objective hasn't been achieved doesn't change the fact that things are moving forward.

For this particular team, next year, general improvement is probably needed across the board. I don't think drastic improvement, but general improvement.

Having said all that, the thing that needs to improve the most, and who the most hype has been placed, is Nico. Nico is average at best. The rest of the offense carries Nico. Nico needs to carry the offense in that system for Tennessee to be good as they need to be to win hardware.

I respect the opinions of everyone here, but I feel like the “it’s ok, they just had more talent than us!” is just pillow softening. Biggest game of the year, biggest game since 1998, and THAT is our game plan? THAT is how our players respond?

There were zero adjustments. Zero schemes. Zero pride shown by anyone on that sideline. Maybe we come out a loser 10 out 10 times just due to a “talent gap” but there is no way anyone can look at what happened last night and be encouraged. We had three weeks to prepare and that is what we get? Our entire team had quit by halftime with very few exceptions.

Nico isn't progressing the field as quickly as he should. That comes with time

The routes we are running take way to long to develop as well

All you said is spot on but for this super talented OSU team best players NIL money can buy lost to a 6 & 5 Michigan team at the same stadium. I think that was fools gold for us. I re-watched that game M vs OSU this was a totally different team. I re-watched them play Oregon and then I was worried they looked like they did last night. They outplayed Oregon on the road @ Oregon just bad coaching gave them the loss. They will beat Oregon on a neutral field and I don't think it will be close. Looking at these different games I see why their fan base has had it with Day with all that uber talent losing to Michigan a rival game the team should have been as amped as they were last night.

TN is a 15-16 million dollar roster, so let’s not all pretend we can’t afford better players or a better roster. The issue is, it seems we either A. Haven’t been good with our evaluations B. Have not been able to develop. But we have a pretty expensive roster, we just haven’t seen the fruits of that money. Our OL is a joke and we better hope the young guys take a huge step to be even on par with a lackluster OL from this year. We really need to go pay for some better LB’s and DB’s because they were clueless last night and I don’t see any of our young recruits making an impact next year there either. So either we are going to have to pay 30 million+ for our roster to not get ran out of a stadium OR we have to do better with our evaluations and development of those we do pay and bring in. At the LEAST, we need a new OL and WR coach, new DB coach and hope our LB coach gets better since benefit of the doubt since he was a first year coach with us.

I am very happy with this year considering we did it with a very weak passing game. Possibly as bad a group of wide receivers as there is in the SEC and a really uncertain QB. I can't really tell if he's good or not. I'm leaning toward not going to be as good as we hoped.
