Chip Kelly attacked our slower linebackers and safeties. it was easy pickings. We need more talent - need a Deion Grant type safety
We do not have speed at LB and strong safety it was exploited by future NFL receivers , no doubt. I think the players know their assignments and are giving it their all they were just trying to stay with ppl that are vastly better. I mean Will Brooks is one of the smartest knows angles etc.. but he just can't stay with NFL guys just the way it is.

I can’t say I’m stunned because Josh Heupel could lose to the Little Giants if it were on the road. But that was a miserable performance and is worthy of no excusing or quantifying. “Any team, anywhere, any time” is an absolute crock of ****.

A road playoff loss in the peak he will ever reach. We will just have to deal with it though because whomever we could possibly replace him with would be worse.

I don’t even know what to say. They were just better at almost every position. Maybe a push on Dline; better at RB if Sampson is healthy. That’s it though.

This is just truth. I had to step away last night to avoid saying something stupid.

The talent delta between us and them is larger than I expected. Their speed at every position was visibly different. I couldn’t believe that. As someone else said, even UGA is not as talented as Ohio St. And when you combine better athletes vs not playing up to own potential you get a woodshed beat down. I have absolutely no idea how that team lost to Michigan. Except for psychology of UM being their heads.

Truth 2 is we have to recruit better. We’re not landing enough 5 star and upper end 4 stars. If there is any good news, we’ve seen this program reach 10 wins two out the last three years, making the playoff, and we have the administration that’s committed to winning and NIL.

Truth #3, we probably do need some changes in the coaching staff. We did enough this year to have a good but not great season. There are some things that need improvement both in terms of talent and how/who that talent is coached by.

His ceiling offensively was 2022. This year was a much better defense. Key is getting all that on the field at the same time. The team we faced was a twenty million dollar roster; just not sure how often Tennessee will be able to spend in that range.

Heupel has severely mismanaged our NIL. Wasted money on portal WRs because Heupel cant identify talent for his offense. His everything QB we paid big money on is pretty average.

Heupel hasnt shown he can identify talent for his offense.

Bothered me as well.

You ever tried your absolute hardest but the other guy is just that damn much better than you? You had Smith on one side that looks like a young Calvin Johnson and Egbuka on the other side that’s probably a first or second round pick at the worst. Oh an I forgot Tate as well. We’re getting better in the secondary but we’re still a long ways from being able to stop a team like that.

People can say outcoached or whatever. Probably is some merit to that but Ohio State brought a machine gun to a fist fight last night. We had no chance. You give any coach, staff, etc this team vs that one and it’s a loss 9 out of 10 times.
I told my brother that also. They have recruited at an elite level for the last seven or eight years. Plus they spent 22 million in the portal. To compete against that kind of talent we have got to recruit better ($) and be way more active in the portal,

You bought into the hype of this game.
Most fans would, but OSU was the only team we’ve played all year that pure talent advantage and coaching advantage. UGA is not as talented as this Ohio State team.
The talent on that OSU team- should not have lost twice this season. The feeling I had watching that game was similar to Nebraska 1997 vs Tennessee.

WHAT DID YOU ALL ACTUALLY EXPECT TO HAPPEN?

That game was lost before it started.
They knew how to stop our schedule (same as Georgia). Except unlike Georgia- Ohio State has the best WR in college football. An All -SEC Rb that is now part of a 1-2 punch for the Buckeyes.
They were clearly more talented and better prepared.

Solution- play the younger more talented guys sooner and bring new blood into the offensive room of coaches.

Just to be clear- Keenan Pili could have been healthy. Cam Seldon could have lived up to his talent. Mike Matthew’s could have been used much more and none of that would have changed the outcome tonight imo.
Ohio State still hasn’t played their A-Game and we were never a threat to them. And we’ve got some good talent- but we need more.

Ohio States starters were better and their bench was as well.

It was good for them to actually play a legitimately more talented team that was motivated.

I’m not saying anyone is stupid for being upset…
Or feels like our coaches aren’t good enough.
I’m just being honest in that Ohio State has a ton of future NFL players and we never stood a chance if they were motivated.

The seasons over.
- focus on the new class for 2025.
- Transfer Portal
- adding depth to the coaching staff.

I think Tennessee exceeded expectations.
Time for them to rest up and get ready for Winter S&C.
That penalty that kept their first drive alive was a killer. We still wouldn't have beat them. I was disappointed with the offense

We spent a lot of money on this offense. Brought in a big money LT from LSU that sucked. Thronton and Brazzell are average at best. Nico looks lost in this offense.

You guys need to quit making excuses for Heupel.

Yeah I think we’ve peaked. This staff needs upgrades at coordinator positions. Particularly DBs, o line and we need big help at receiver. Everybody seems slow
Our receivers have not been good against elite Dbs since 2022 we do not get separation and look very slow

Don’t care what Georgia did to Texas. Ohio State has the better talent. Ohio State has three NFL WRs, a great pair of RBs, defensively appear good everywhere. How the hell that team lost to Michigan is a real question?
Lost by terrible game plan, terrible coaching on that day. I like Hype but he has to. Change his game planning for road games. Because what he is doing in prep for road games is not working

I love the plays that will brooks has made this year to help this team. The last line of your post was very evident last night, against UGA, Bama, etc. when you are playing 2 walk ons on defense, and a walk on at RT, then you have failed yourself in recruiting and coaching. You literally have wasted scholarships not playing over a walk on. Can’t continue to have no development on the O line or safety spots. CBs looked better this year, but a lot of that was masked by the D line

You can’t have walk on safetys and corners covering future top 5/ 1st round wrs 😂. This was a big wake up call for me on the overall talent we lack as a football team.

Thought we had the better QB and good enough RBs. The OL flat out negated any/all advantages, if there were any. This shows up time and time again against Ga, AL, Fla (insert teams you gotta beat to win your conference/playoff). Can't recall ever seeing that many batted balls, much less sacks and hurries in the game tonight. So, for the third year....I have to say FIX the damn OL. #1
This won’t get fixed until you let Elarbee walk. You can’t claim to be a good O-line coach when you haven’t been able to get a single one of your own recruits to ever play on the field. I’ve never even heard of that pathetic and it should be a fireable offense as it is

I agree.

It's why I haven't said much in the past few weeks. Felt like Ohio State was going to beat us handily. I thought OSU was a top 5 team all season. They stunk it up against Michigan, but really only Oregon, Georgia, and Texas are in the same sphere as them on talent.

Happy our fans showed up, but I've dreaded this game for weeks and thought it could be similar to '97 Nebraska. Especially with Squirrel and Thornton both essentially playing hurt, tough to match up with OSU.

Really thought Nico made the best of a bad situation. He was under intense pressure all night and rarely had any open targets to throw to. He needs much more help next season.

I don’t think it mattered who the QB was if we weren’t gonna dial up anything to help the QB all night. We used zero motion plays to loosen up the defense, we ran a singular rb screen, we couldn’t pass pro to allow a deep shot, we couldn’t really run the ball. This offense won’t work against the more talented teams until we get an O- line that can compete at the highest level. Until then Elarbee and Halzle will continue to handcuff any part of the game plans

I'm definitely not encouraged by the regression of our offense. Golesh was very important and Halzle doesn't have it as a OC. The worrying part is if it's Heup not Halzle. Obviously much happier than we were 10 years ago. But we aren't there yet and I feel like we've stalled. Our elite D got torched. Our skill positions minus Samp kinda suck. And the OL situation is and has been a disaster.

Not making excuses. CJH has done a lot of good for the program. To get to the elite level we want to be at he has got to do even more. His downfall will be his loyalty to his staff. Same thing happened to CPF. The coaches CJH promoted from within his own coaching tree are not real good coaches. Nice guys but far from elite recruiters or developers. He needs to go out and hire a few dudes.

It is a little disheartening; I saw a ranking of SEC QBs and Nico was way down the line and behind Lanorris Sellars who is either a RS Freshman or a Sophomore not sure and DJ Lagway from Florida who is a True Freshman. I do think Nico has a high ceiling still don't things have slowed down for him yet.
