Don Devoe speaks out about Pearl

I can give you a list of 20+ but for what? So you can counter with "prove it"?

Sorry, not playing that troll's game. :salute:

Yeah, I'm a troll.

I was frankly asking for some examples of these high morale coaches since you are lambasting UT for having pond scum. Either you can list some or not. No big deal.

If John Calipari had done this <diversion noted>.
I could care less what that swine does, did or will do. It only goes to show that Memphis State and Kentucky basketball are whore-mothered retards like Alabama/Auburn football fans. And many UT fans on this forum.

Anything for a "W".

Hatvol is a person I would love to meet. His hate and anger for all things UT impresses me

I am late to the discussion but because of my age (55), I do have a good memory of Tennessee basketball. First and foremost Bruce is in real trouble because he lied not because he cheated.

Cheating is always wrong but there are degrees of cheating. His "cheating" consisted of too many text messages and a cookout. He didn't pay anyone off (see Alabama); he didn't have players cheat on exams (See Calapri).

Not telling the truth is also always wrong. To Bruce's credit, he was the one to call the NCAA back and admit it. We don't know if he was on the verge of getting caught or truly had a guilty conscience. Only he knows that.

But here is my real point of this reply. In life when we do good things, we earn "brownie points". When we screw up, husbands, wives, employers look at our screw up and our brownie points and weigh them against each other to determine what happens next.

Bruce Pearl has earned more brownie points than all the other Tennessee coaches (except for Ray Mears) combined. That's why Don Devoe would probably have been fired if he had done the same thing Bruce did. That is why Bruce is still loved and still the coach of the Vols. It's that simple.

Common sense and life experience aren't welcome here. Be ready.

Or could it be our incompetent athletic director has his genitals in a sling and pearl holds the rope?

A subjective evaluation of the situation versus an objective one. Interesting idea and point of view. Not sure I fully agree, but interesting nonetheless.

Why do people keep trying to draw this distinction? The guy lied about cheating.

Because we would have never heard about the cheating without the lying. His cheating was the equivalent of doing 64 in a 55 mph zone. Then he lied about it.

Edited.

Formulating an intricate cover-up to hide 9 mph doesn't seem like a very good idea. IIRC, our country has impeached one President and forced the resignation of another on similar grounds.

Assumptions?

NOA says BP called the recruits dad and the dad felt like the content of the call was trying to influence his comments to the NCAA. Only one person involved in the elaborate scheme of "others". And you have to believe the father's interpretation of the call. The letter didn't flat out say BP told the guy to lie.

That was puzzling actually. The accusations were very clear and worded to the point, except that one. Very gray and interpretive. The university's response will be interesting.
