Donald Trump goes off

Now, there were a lot of people of significance(his Dad, his Dad's advisors, almost all of military brass) that questioned his approach to Iraq.

By "his approach" I assume you mean Gen. Tommy Franks' and General Myers' plan?

Listening to either Shinseki or Powell regarding anything of substance is a path to immediate failure (hence, things took a drastic and terrible turn when the DoD handed the reigns over from Jay Garner to Paul Bremer and the State Dept.)

Colin Powell is an *ss-clown. Shinseki is right up there with him.

Generals Casey, Zini and others as well

First, I would like to see a citation that the J-5 in the Pentagon was against the strategic plan.

Second, the Marines from their Chief of Staff down were and have been against the entire Iraqi Campaign since day one.

More to the point, though, you would rather the POTUS listen to military voices that belong to those other than the combatant commander, the Chairman of the JCS, and the Sec. of Defense?

Very few in the media. I would say that O'Reilly is significant. He never portrayed W as a moron and actually knows the difference between a liberal and a secular progressive, unlike most right wing conservatives. George Will would be significant in my book. All the major news directors and anchors would qualify. You may call most of them liberal, but none, if any, openly questioned Bush's intelligence. That was always done by the pundits and loudmouths

Personally, I felt that his apparent lack of intelligence was a function of 1) he just wasn't the most articulate POTUS we've had, 2) he wasn't very good at pretending to be interested in things that did not interest him, and, 3) his big picture approach to things often made it seem like he did not know the details of whatever policy issue confronted him.

I don;t think it was that he was unintelligent nearly as much as he was just selective about what he was going to care about and if your issue didn't make his list then he came across as uninformed.

The knower of others' thoughts has once against spoken.

I am hardly alone in realizing that a large segment, if not majority, of birthers would never accept any proof of Obama's being born in Hawaii as genuine. In fact, the GOP-appointed doctor who has affirmed, and now re-affirmed in this most recent CNN article, that there is a standard birth certificate and its real and that this whole birther nonsense is conjured up, has said the same thing. That is, that there is no point in providing it since the birthers will insist its a forgery, no matter what.

So what is there to lose here? You make the sane contingent believe. Those that are too nuts to accept that kind of proof will be ostracized as tin-foil-hat-wearers and will have no impact whatsoever. Donald Trump will have to find something else to complain about, or risk having something make him look even more foolish than his hairstyle does. It seems pretty likely there's something on that birth certificate he'd prefer remain private.

No, you see, that's the charade. Trump won't accept it and move on. It just amplifies attention to it and has no chance to make a signficiant difference. I mean, how many birthers would say, "ok, I guess its fine, and so now I am going to vote for him"?

None. No person who is a birther would vote for Obama no matter what. Even that small segment that would ever let this irrational obsession go, would still not convert to Obama supporters.

There is no benefit to releasing the long form, only further attention to the matter and the possibility of adding more tin-foil hat people to the fray.

something tells me those original birthers in hilary's camp ended up voting for obama

My point was that if there was a shread of doubt the professional politicos, eg. the Clinton Gang, would have been shouting it from the rooftops during the primaries. They know how to play the game with the best.

Right. Providing an actual birth certificate would make no difference. And I'm sure Donald Trump, a guy trying to break into the political world, would choose to hitch a huge amount of money and effort into something that had been proven false right before his eyes.

Obviously he's not going to gain any votes, but proving things would tone down some negative PR and make some of his most vocal enemies look pretty bad. It's a no-lose situation to release the birth certificate.

Saying that providing a birth certificate would actually increase the number of birthers rather than decrease them is ridiculous. If you honestly think that, you're every bit as stupid as you want to believe those people are.

I wish he'd just pony up that birth certificate and shut everyone up. Let some experts have a look at it to authenticate it. The fact he hasn't should be enough to raise some questions about whether he truly was born here.

No worries though the media will spin it on Trump to be the bad guy, looks like that has already happened. Obama's minions doing work in the media. Some people would believe anything and they target those people well.

Trump Tells Hannity: Bill Ayers Wrote Obama’s Book | The Blaze

Trump went on to discuss Obama’s past associations with retired college professor and co-founder of the Weather Underground Bill Ayers, the controversial Rev. Jeremiah Wright and convicted real estate developer and political fundraiser Tony Rezko.

Trump asserted that Ayers wrote Obama’s best-selling book “Dreams of My Father” and that Obama sat in Wright’s congregation for 20 years while Wright “spewed hate against white people.”

Rezko was convicted for among other things, illegally transfering huge sums to Chicago from the mideast.

Gee wonder what posters here have to say about Trump, considering how some have had to say about me, since he is merely saying what I've been saying for years.

Never mind that what he is saying is the unadulterated truth.

Trump isn't the first person to allege that Ayers wrote Obama's "Dreams of my Father". Given the similarities between that book and one of Ayers' own books, I don't think the theory is much of a stretch, given Obama's lack of intellectual depth.

I hadn't before the show then my Bro. turned me on to him. Early would get along great with many on this board: "Okey dokey Sheriff, now get off my property. Go on now."

Not quite right gs. It goes truck - boat - truck. And Early hates chalkies. 'Cept for those dang Doobie Bros. and they Chinese Grove.

I always thought it was Earle.

In other news, The Donald is bringing his biggest guns to the table. This will surely bring NEOCON over to his side:

Trump tells CNN's "State of the Union" that he has a "much, much bigger net worth. I mean my net worth is many, many, many times Mitt Romney."
