Don't forget about Worley!!!

So is Aj mccarron - seems to have worked out well for them. You don't have to have a "dynamic" QB to win games. A sometimes a game manager is better.

McCarron is not a game manager in the sense that everybody wants to apply that label as a negative, meaning that the QB is not a playmaker and that he's asked just not to lose the game, not turn the ball over. It's true of Worley... It's just not true of McCarron.
He's thrown 70 tds and only 13 ints, 67% completions as a starter.... he sure looked like a playmaker and not a "game manager" when we played Bama this year to me

AJ is not a game manager sorry. He can make any throw at any time. Worley can not. Just because he's not mobile and doesn't turn the ball over makes him a game manager?

South Alabama's looked like a playmaker too. Not many QB's havent looked good.

Um yeah Worley isn't on the same level as Dobbs just because he's a senior doesn't mean he will be good and start. I said he would start next season too earlier this year but after seeing Dobbs its not gonna happen.

Let me just say this. One of the two QBs fit CBJ's system the other does not. Assuming all things are equal on the practice field the one that fits the system best will start.

Meh.

AJMs role has changed over the years to where he is a strength that can win you a game, as opposed to calling plays that he can't lose you the game with.

Big picture there are a lot of QBs that could be successful with Bamas roster. They have the ability to real it in and be conservative if needed because they are not gonna give up many points and they can always run the ball.

AJM is not really a apples to apples comparison in other words. They can cut him loose or hold him down and still win. We don't have that luxury we need a QB that can make plays to win games.

lol ..
If our defense could hold opposing teams to 10-15 pts per game then a game manager would be perfect. But, we have yet to do that so far... Sooo we gotta score pts bud. Case in point. Johnny Football. Kid has to score 50 pts a game to win.

You don't really need a "case in point" when your point is that you have to score a lot of points to win if your defense sucks. It's pretty much common sense; no need to provide an example to prove an obvious point.

I think we should just shut the hell up and support Dobbs for now. Let everything else sort itself out. I have no idea why we have to tear down one or the other to make our opinions have more merit.

Worley won the first meaningful game in several years as starter. Dobbs has shown great potential in his starts despite the outcomes versus very strong opponents.
Worley has been a starter for a grand total of 10 games in his career. As a true freshman, he started against So. Carolina, MTSU, and Arkansas. As a sophomore, he had zero starts. As a junior, he started 7 games. ....Austin Peay, W. Kentucky, South Alabama, Oregon, Georgia, So. Carolina, and Alabama.
You make it sound like Worley has played dozens of meaningful games without a win. There may have been 6 "meaningful game" starts at the most, and 2 of them were as a true freshman. His last 4 games are it , and still, he has had very little experience. He still has more meaningful wins than Bray or Dobbs.

Worley will NEVER take another snap under center! However, I do believe Butch likes him and will keep him on as a Graduate Assistant. He will be a smart coach someday!:good!:

While I somewhat agree, I find it odd that people feel this way considering the fact that our entire team has looked like crap since he got hurt. As average as he played, he was able to pull out a upset win and almost another one. Team chemistry and truly believing in your teammates goes along way. The team says they have faith in Dobbs but the results say otherwise.

Totally agree about the importance of team chemistry and believing in your teammates, but I don't think the results of the games Dobbs has started necessarily means they don't have faith in him.

Actually I'm saying Worley is the first UT starter to win a significant game in several years versus a ranked opponent. It wasn't an insult but a complement.

Huh? Has the So Alabama QB been the starting QB of the last 2 teams to win the national championship? Is he also one of the most efficient passers in the country? Will be be invited to the heisman trophy ceremony next month?

Give the kid his due. He's earned it.

Faith doesn't get you far when the other side of the ball is giving up 444 yards on the ground. I don't give a damn if Peyton Manning was playing; Auburn and Missouri would've still kicked our ass with that defensive performance.

Want to take a bet on that?

Mmm, I wouldn't bet on that.

Not a chance. Either Dobbs or Ferguson.

Yea I wouldn't count on that. Hell if Ferguson was ahead of Dobbs till he got hurt then it wouldn't surprise me if Ferguson and Dobbs are ahead of Worley next season.

Worley has a better chance starting for Furman next year...

Maybe when Dobbs finally gets in the endzone (since he hasn't in 10 quarters) I'll change my tune. Until then, my money is on the experienced QB who beat South Carolina and took Georgia to OT to be the starter next year, not the current freshman who is responsible for Palardy's numbers in the past 3 games.

I'm not trying to burst the VN bubble here. I want Dobbs to be the savior of UT football too. But so far he's showing nothing that leads me to be believe he is.

Forgive me for defending a Bama player, but McCarron is much more than a game manager. He is very accurate and has a beautiful deep ball. He's underrated IMO.
