Don't know if true but I'm not happy...(Memphis St series)

This, seriously.

I never see him post in the other threads, about anything positive, maybe ive missed it???

Was he happy about hubbs, Davis? The midnight madness announcement? The good wins over seas? The interest we have from top level future recruits??

Did he post about any of this stuff, or only post when he has negative things to say?

I sincerely think he's the most butthurt poster in the history of Volnation in regards to not being man enough to admit he jumped the gun on calling Martin a failure. I rarely see him post anything but little snipes to get back at all who have crossed him in his glorious thread.

The MTSU loss was pretty bad. I was in the stands right behind the team. But, finishing with the 2nd best record in the SEC when we were picked to finish 11th and signing Stokes, Hubbs, and probably Nichols, along with the development of Maymon and Golden, and the apparent class he has quickly instilled in the program, all have convinced me he is an unmitigated success at this point of his tenure at UT.

The thing with the MTSU loss is it happens in the NIT. Rarely do you see many of the favorites move on in that tournament, they're usually down from missing the big dance, and play badly.

Does CCM need to prove he can make the dance this year, absolutely. Once he proves that this year, there should be no remaining questions, and a fat raise should be on the way.

Many peoples biggest question, was could he recruit...that has certainly been answered, better than any of us thought I believe.

Interesting. I like what he's done but think he still has a lot to prove on the court, unless you're satisfied with NIT losses to MTSU in Knoxville.

Did Tennessee extend his contract after last season?

There are about 10 posters in this forum that run like a pack of wolves. They are quick to congratulate each other and profess their adoration of all that is Martin. When Martin sneezes, threads are started by this gang to congratulate Martin on being the best person to sneeze ever. It's quite comical.

The facts are stacked against them when evaluating Martin at UT. They continue to cover up the fact he has more bad loses than quality wins, got beat at home in the NIT, and made terribly questionable coaching decisions in most late game situations when it mattered.

But hey, some people live in fairy tale worlds with rainbows and unicorns.

I will cede that Martin is getting a lot of recognition on this site for non-on court matters, but please explain why we should expect him to fail.

It was just his first season at a D1 school. You at least have to give him the benefit of the doubt.:ermm:

Tom Izzo first season, 16-16
Roy Williams went 19-12 at Kansas. Then went 19-11 at UNC.

Many more examples just too lazy to post them. Your acting like he has no potential

I don't think anyone should expect him to fail, I hope they don't lose a game next season. But realistically speaking, he has his work cut out for him by winning like he's never done before. And frankly, his body of work was mediocre last year. Dud start, strong middle, dud finish.

So more than 20 wins is unrealistic in your opinion? Making the NCAA is an outside shot?

Sure he has potential. We hired a Martin hoping on potential, while USC hired a Martin as a proven tournament coach. Yeah.

Well, it was his fourth season a d1 school.

You seriously think we won't make the tourney? We may not, but I wouldn't put my money on it. Now that we are in a much better position to make the tourney this season, we can actually step back and see what he does instead of writing him off after one bad show.

I just find it difficult to see why you think we shouldn't REALISTICALLY expect a good season.

EDIT: A SEASON CAN STILL BE CONSIDERED GOOD WITHOUT MAKING THE FINAL FOUR, NO?

The tourney is a minimal expectation for the Vols. Anything short is a disappointment. We have tournament history, we have tournament facilities, we pay tournament coaching money. There is no excuse for not expecting the tourney every season.

So you were 110% sure we were gonna make the tourey in 2012 before Bruce was fired in 2011?

You would be one of FEW.
