Don't make this loss something it's not

It could be. We would definitely be in the worst shape for it if we lose, but if we lost, then swept Mizzou and beat Florida without any more bone headed losses, then things would be different. Not to mention that it would be possible to make up ground in the SEC tourney, albeit unlikely if we're playing that bad. But in all practicality, if we lose to Ole Miss, I don't think we'll be in any bracket projections afterwards. Still too early to tell if a game is going to be a death blow or not.

The death blow was long before this game. The Florida loss is more like "beating a dead horse!"

Where I come from we aren't suppose to lose any of them so where you got that we were suppose to lose that game is beyond me...When Pearl was coach, there was no game we played I didn't feel we had a legit chance of winning...I felt we could win them all under him...With Counzo as coach I feel every game we play we could lose...That is just a fact...CCM is not what UT needs...He is a boring coach and is making this program boring to watch.

Valid points which will equate to average to poor recruiting. I'll say it again missing out on Leron Black, Lyle and Looney for next season were crucial misses. Solid incoming guys, but Freshman tend to have a hard time grasping CCM's motion offense and transitioning from HS to College is no minor task. It's getting ugly and I hope CCM can get this team playing better, but the next crowd attendance at home will be a tell tale sign of what most fans think. Welcome to the Museum!

We're sorely Missing McBee For Three to open up opponents defense. Barton was supposed to be a slayer from outside, but he's either gone cold or over-rated. Martin is a great fundamentals coach, but it's the mental aspect that is missing. He's simply not able to inspire the confidence on this very talented team that they can actually win against anybody.

Sorry, don't see the great fundamentals coach thing. I hear about it a lot but don't see it. The defensive genius thing also goes over my head. I've seen this "defense" before. Holding the ball to shoot in the final seconds of the shot clock does not equate to defense to me. Someone needs to teach a little pick and roll defense theory.

... This game just showed what happens when you rely on McRae to bail your ass out for 3 years just to make it to the NIT.

That's profound right there!

Just think, we took a team of veterans in there and scored 41 ... WITH Jordan McRae on our team! Let that sink in.

Remember A&M? I leaned over and told the guy next to me at TBA at @ the 10:
00 mark in the 2nd half ... "McRae has yet to even touch the ball this 1/2". It's simple. Blanket the shoot creator and our O simply dies. ATM figured it out and can back from 15+ down to win.

The only good win(s) left on the schedule is UF again and maybe Ole Miss and Mizzou and I'm not sure those last 2 mean much. Last years team beat WSU, UF, Mizzou, Bama once and dismantled UK and couldn't make it in. I don't see how we make it in when the SEC is as weak as it is. Two ranked teams is pitiful and UK isn't much more than a name thus far from what I've seen.

You're right the only thing to do is put this one behind us and move on. I wouldn't worry much if I were you because Coach Martin will be here next year regardless of what transpires this season.

I think you're correct on both points. Martin remain$ for obvious reasons. This team should have been a lock for the NCAA. We will be a whipping boy next year and that will lay the groundwork for a buyout and then a rebuilder to take the $1m+ bait.

Leadership is to stubborn and insecure to admit past failure and rehire Pearl after this year. He probably ends up at another SEC school kicking us year after year.

I'm not a basketball fan, nor do I follow UT basketball closely; but if UT wants to improve its basketball program a coaching change is in order.

If Martin is here next year then I think attendance falls so badly that Hart will see the athletic revenue from basketball fall even more than what we save by keeping him.

Very disappointing, yes. UF's defense just didn't let us get anything. When we could beat it, we struggled to hit shots. Our defense just couldn't keep up. Even when we were getting some hands in shooters' faces, they made some tough shots. We know we could have played better, but UF was throwing the book at us today, and that never makes it any easier.

I know this is a lot to ask for some posters, but try to consider the fact that we played on the road against a top-10 team. We weren't supposed to win this game, but it's very disheartening to see UF tear it open in the 2nd half. Could we have played better? Definitely. Did we lose because of effort? I don't think so. We needed some adjustments at the half, and they just didn't work. It's not that surprising a veteran and champion coach got the best of Martin. Still, a disappointing way to lose. You can't pull out many positives from a blowout.

Plain and simple, this game is not a season-killer. I know many will disagree, but I'm sorry, it's just not true. We have our back against the wall right now and our REAL bad losses (UTEP, NCSU, TAMU) have dug the hole that we're in. We don't have much room for error to ensure an at-large bid, but make no mistake, this loss has virtually no effect on our chances. This is a textbook low-risk game - lots to gain in the event of a win, little to lose in the event of a loss. If we can take care of business, we won't be on pins and needles come Selection Sunday. Obviously, that's not a given, but it's what I'm hoping for.

You're welcome to think or say anything you like about the situation, but take it from me, it's a lot more fun to cheer on the Vols and hope for the best IMO. I don't care how bad we are, as long as our coach and team doesn't blatantly give up, they deserve support from the fans. You don't have to agree, but I encourage you guys to make the best of it and not let it ruin your life.

AMNESIA, PEOPLE!! On to Ole Miss.:hi:

GO VOLS!!!!

You are EXACTLY right.

Amnesia would be the absolute best thing for the fan base and basketball program in general.

The sooner we can forget the Cuonzo Martin era, the better.

Could someone please explain the rotation tonight to me? I really have no clue to why certain players play at the times that they do.

If all animals south of the equator were capable of flattery, Christmas would come in August.

(It's an Ocean's 11 quote I mangled but it makes about as much sense as Martin's theories on playing time).

"I don't care, and I don't watch enough to have much information, but I have an opinion anyway."

Honestly, all you have to do is look at the record from the past 2.5 seasons and you have all the info you need.

If you need more info, look at Martin's record prior to UT.

Don't even need to watch the games to see how bad his records are.

Had to work yesterday so I didn't see the game but scoring only 41 points is absolutely pathetic. And the excuses of it's a top ten team on the road so we didn't have a shot at winning that game anyways does not excuse that horrible performance.

If Cuonzo can't get his team to play better than that, regardless of the opponent, combined with his poor coaching of a team that has top 25 if not higher talent means IMO he can not be fired soon enough.

Nothing. Don't care for college football. Martin and Dooley are not even comparable. One was a loser, the other had a respectable record with actual success at his previous school. Martin has been more successful at UT in pretty much every way than Dooley was. Just wish this season didn't turn out the way it has. Very disappointing.

You think zero tournament appearances in 6 seasons is respectable?

Martin is exactly like Dooley.

And like Dooley, his first two head coaching gigs will last exactly 3 seasons apiece.

I would say worse than Dooley. He has sucked the first two yrs and this yr he has vastly under performed with the talent he has.

Ahh...nothing is worst than Dooley. CCM has some key wins in his tenure at UT (UK,Florida). Dooley never got a signature win (period). For CCM this was considered his best team since being at UT. He has to know this season is disappointing and time is his enemy with any loss that comes.

Dooley was a career loser who never beat a ranked team and never had a winning record here. He never beat a rival. He finished below projections a couple of times.

Martin took a team whose top returning scorer was a sr who avg 8.8 pts. His next best was 3 pts. We were picked at the very bottom of the SEC. We finished 2nd beat some ranked teams and rivals. Next year without our leading returning scorer who was hurt we beat UK and UF and finish above projections again. Close and could have made the tourny both times even though we weren't supposed to be close. The reason we weren't supposed to be close is because Bruce left a mess.

How is that anywhere near close to Dooley? Let alone worse.
