Don't sleep on Brady Hoke & Michigan

18 year olds don't give a crap about one decade of dominance 40 years ago. i'd think you of all people would understand that. no i'm talking about the fact there are more people living in the south and in the west than before.

Well, this is exactly the kind of thing I am trying to say. um has 2 Big Ten championships since 2000. They have one shared Nat Champ. Not bad. But not dominating. And the last 3 years (when the recent recruits were in late middle school/early hs) they have not done well at all. A few more years of that, and the successes of their past will be forgotten by anyone that matters.

I get what you are saying. And the rise of some of the other southern teams also hurts teams like um. MOST of the SEC has more to sell than michigan does.

they have first class facilities, an excellent degree to sell, and tradition arguably greater than any school out there and they've recruited in ohio very well over the years. MSU is a joke and always will be. they'll always get sloppy seconds. No one grows up dreaming of going to MSU. i can't see nebraska significantly hurting their recruiting. frankly i can't understand why anyone would want to go to nebraska over michigan.
The stadium is HUGE, the training facilities are top notch. The campus is not separate from the town, kind of a downer of a campus. I have heard a lot of college kids that didnt like it at all (a LOT)
The um degree is great, if you are not a general studies major. And most football players are steered to general studies majors. Check with Harbaugh on that one.

MSU just won a Big Ten championship(yes SHARED), and if not for the wheelings and dealings of tressel, would have been in the Rose Bowl. There have been years (see Bobby Williams, John L Smith) where MSU was down, and something to joke about, but that is again, the past.

And there are enough Big Time recruits that dream of going to a place like Michigan State. Time will prove me right. MSU is at the beginning of something very good.

The Braska comment was not about recruiting, it is about winning. um will not dominate with the likes of braska, osu and msu around.

Im taking a Coaches vote over a Media Vote.

Good for you. The title was legit. I'm sorry it didn't meet your personal criteria for greatness, but you are dead wrong with your Korean War comment. It is a recognized title.

did you read the rest of the thread. Of course it is a recognized 1/2 of a title. (and yeah, I misspoke. . damn) It is all guesswork from here, but would um had beaten braska that year. . . . . I know the answer to that one. No. Way. Doesnt matter, the 1/2 counts.

and 4 of their 11 are in 1901, 02, 03, and 04. . . .

whatever. It is all THE PAST. It does nothing for what they are going to do on the field THIS YEAR. Or Next.

Their reputation is built on the 70s, and parts of the 80s. They have had a couple good years. That was then. This is now.

-my hatred. . . and yes there is a hatred. . . revolves around the arrogance that we are discussing right here. They have battled back and forth with UT about Seating Capacity, and to reach the numbers they have, they do not add seats, they make the existing ones smaller. You can get a great education there, but unless you are a volleyballer, or a golfer, it doesnt matter, because they are going to push their football players into a general education program.

Yeah, they weren't a top 10 program from 1995-2006. Don't be an idiot.

And making fun of Michigan's academics for football? Please. There better than a ton of other schools.

And a few years in the 70's/80's? If you are going to hate a team, please at least bring facts.

What i have learned up here is that Michigan State is the school you go to when you can't get into UM.

I bet Michigan fans were disappointed in this hire at the start kind of like some UT fans were disappointed with the Dooley hire but I think both coaches will take the programs back where the belong.

I loved them hiring Brady from the start. I like Dooley alot, but I would trade them any day.

um has not won a nat. championship since the Korean War.

They have won 2 Big Ten championships in the 2000's.

They are currently in the middle of a 3 year probation for cheating.

Their new coach is an arrogant azz, and looks like fred flintstone.

(EDIT) but they will find an excuse for not winning again this year.

yeah. dont sleep on em.

What's Michigan State been winning?

It was more the disappointment that Harbaugh wasn't coming here than Hoke. Most Michigan fans really like the hire.

Michigan State fans are not running around acting like they invented the game of football.

The arrogance that comes out of um is matched by NO ONE. And that is where my feelings for the school come from.
Im backing out of the thread because it is something that you cannot understand unless you grew up in the MSU family.

I went to MSU, and I know a LOT about the SEC. Been a gator since about 3rd grade. Ive never seen anything, anywhere that is comparable to um fan/player/coach arrogance.

They were a very successful program under Bo, and his successors. The football program was something to admire. But they are not the program they THINK they are.
I will leave this thread alone, you folks wont understand.

They are michigan. They wanted Harbaugh soooo bad. And then they had Miles in their sites (again), and cant remember who else. But Hoke was NOT on the wish list of 25% of um fans when they went looking for a coach.

Good that they are behind their coach, but dont let them kid you into thinking this was their dream hire.

Dream hire or not, Hoke is miles better than Les.

I hate MSU because they ended a 6 game winning streak I had and killed a $1400.00 3 team parlay last year by not covering the spread against a Purdue squad who had the brakes beat off them in the 3 previous games.

Ha. Trust me, Michigan fans really weren't that excited with Miles. Actually, we were optimisticly petrified.

It's all about the money. Michigan has it, Michigan St. does not. It's will always be that way.
