Don't Sleep on Worley

Worley committed to UT, recruited for us his senior year of HS, stayed true to his commitment, and has done his time in a situation that has been in flux. I have been waiting for them to hand him the ball and give him a vote of confidence.

That's great and all but it doesn't afford him the starting QB position. You have to prove that you're "the guy." That you are the one all others look to for leadership and have the confidence and trust in your team mates and coaches that you are the one to command the team. You also have to possess the skill set that's needed to win. Sorry but recruiting and staying true to your commitment doesn't and shouldn't guarantee a damn thing when it comes to earning the coveted starting QB position at the University of Tennessee.

Very true on Bray. I doubt Worley because of the spring game this year. I don't see the arm strength. He was throwing balls short. don't see much accuracy as he will need. None of the starting QB's earned a chance yet. Were in an all out QB battle. It's possible that we can see Riley! I doubt it will though. I'm not giving him a chance until Butch puts him in against AP. The winner will earn that chance. That means he won the battle, but must fight the war.
All I'm saying is if I had money, I'd bet Peterman will win the battle.
I have no clue who is the best. It will sort itself out. I went to the O&W game, and was not impressed by the passing game period. Having said that, the receivers were not up to par( some were walkons or backups), and I really didn't see many open receivers to throw to. It looked to me like several balls were intentionally thrown away, either into the dirt or out of bounds. It will get better with more reps and better receivers.

Another reason for Worley's underthrows was the pass rush. The d-line shoved the o-line back to his feet on several plays, and he couldn't step into the throw, and threw flat-footed with no visible passing lane. Bray got by with it because of his arm strength. Worley can't do that. Peterman on a roll might be where it goes. We will see. I was surprised that the o-line got pushed backwards quite a bit on passing plays.

Worley was playing behind the first string line. McCullers is a beast. Peterman handled running for his life every play. Mobility is the difference between Peterman and Worley.

Peterman graded out like this to me.
Arm: 7.5
Accuracy: 6( 1 point below Worley if 6 isn't it)
Decision Making: D
Leadership: Same as Worley.
Poise: C ( he really impressed me here, will only go up)

I don't care if you disagree. Its your right. My opinion is,some of you making the case against Worley due to a spring game and him being thrown to the wolves lacks common sense. Its my opinion and I stand by that. I probably wont get two likes for that but oh well I'll be ok.

Should've taken the over... just gave you your third.

But it was predicated on BS

I stopped commenting on his posts...I thought he had some shtick going on the Dooley thing, but when commenting on an exchange between you two he got real personal with me...decided to let him go on with his manifestoes without comment

I've stopped, for the most part, as well because its utterly futile to the point of madness and he did the same with me... got personal and insulting. I come on this forum to enjoy the information and entertainment, not put up with that crap. Oh well... Happy Dillon Bates is a Vol Day Butch!

Exactly, there is no reason to insult anyone for their opinion. I disagree with most people in this thread, but am I throwing mud? No, if we expect our head coach to have character. It would be hypocritical to not expect respect from each other. Even idiots should be able to express themselves.

Thats Fulmer logic let the senior start look for BJ to do the intelligent thing
I doubt that there are very many on here who want Worley to start if he doesn't give us our best chance to succeed. If there is a better player on the bench, hardly anyone would want to stick with an inferior qb.

Gatorade National POY (PManning, ESmith, MBarkley).
Senior Year: 428/589 72.7% 5313 yds (#2 nationally) 354.2 ypg 64 td 11 int 129 rat.
15-0 and State Champ (MVP)
Team scored in 40s 12/15 times (34, 35, 36)
Offers from UF, FSU, LSU, Notre Dame and Stanford
6'4" 213 (up from 196 as Fr)
Runs better than Manning
Butch has never had a QB with this much potential
Don't throw JW under the bus

He should have got the job last year right after the FLA game when Bray came apart.

The cream will rise to the top this fall.

As for JW and NP, they both took on new offensive scheme with new receivers, so there was a huge learning curve that was bound to be full of mistakes. Even the O-Line is adjusting to new scheme, which requires them to be more fit and mobile.

JW and NP will have a distinct advantage this fall because they have had time to practice with WR all summer and get timing and routes down. That will be a slight disadvantage for Dobbs and a major disadvantage for Ferguson who was the last to arrive on campus. Of the four, Ferguson has the most competitiveness.

85% chance one QB will set themselves apart from the rest.

Also Did Worley skip a year because everyone keeps referring to him as a Senior? He should be a Junior...one year behind where Bray was.
