Don't worry Ohio State

Two different issues. It's not Ohio State's job to worry about how good the rest of the Big 10 is. The bottom line is, they are scheduling better nonconference opponents than Tennessee. Hence, the games where they have control over who they play, they are manning up more than UT.
Yea if they played in the SEC this year with our schedule they never see the inside of the Sugar Bowl.

It's not UT's job to worry "manning up" OOC when they play in the toughest conference in the nation.

What proof do you have of that? When the SEC was pretty much just Florida and Tennessee in the mid to late '90s, it's not like we went looking for many killer nonconference games.

Manning up more? Tennessee has no reason to anually schedule non-conference heavyweights. They have the SEC East to thank for strength of schedule.

Yeah, the 2002 Ohio State team would have really struggled in the SEC.
They didn't even play the second best team in the conference that year...

I think they could have lost one... Tressel did a fantastic job with that team..

I believe UT just got done with a 2 year deal with Miami, a 4 year plan with ND over a 6 year stretch. They have Oklahoma coming up. ND sucks, but you can't always predict that years in advance.

Yeah, those perennial powers at South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky are just a murderer's row.

Well, should we drop to independent and only schedule top 10 teams. Sure, OSU is doing a good job with OOC scheduling, but it isn't like they are playing a ridiculously tough slate.

Hat you argue for a living. Its hard to out gun a man who makes a lot of $ doing exactly that.

The 2002 Ohio State team beat a great Miami team. The 2006 Ohio State team got annihilated by a merely very good Florida team. There's no comparision.

USC played a weaker regular season schedule than OSU.

USC played 3 teams with a winning record going 2-1

While OSU played 6 winning teams with a record of 5-1.

UAB, UCLA, NIU, and Wyoming is a hair better than Akron, Youngstown St, Kent State, and Washington.

It's close, but UCLA 08 potentially being better than Washington 07 is going to determine that.

Yeah, I bet Jim Tessel lies in bed at night petrified about playing South Carolina. I bet he's glad he's plying the other USC instead next year.

Hat, I'm not denying you know much more about college football than I ever will, but I probably watched the 2002 Buckeyes probably more than anyone on this site except maybe OE, and that team was probably the luckiest team I have ever seen. That season can best be described as a "lucky fluke."
