Don't worry Ohio State

And Kentucky, who beat LSU, who beat tOSU.

No, can't do that. We'd have a Furman v. ULM championship.

Georgia wouldn't have beaten Ohio State in Columbus in October.

I would give them more of a chance than Illinois winning in Columbus. UT played an outstanding game that day... You can't be sure OSU would have played that well...

Tennessee navigated their schedule with 3 regular season losses. Ohio State would not have been beaen by Cal or Alabama.

At Cal (first game of the year) or at Alabama (first half of the year), you never know what might have happened.

Why not? If Illinois can beat the Buckeyes (granted it was November 10th,) Georgia could have, too. After October 13th, the Bulldogs have been playing as good of football as anyone in the country.

How well did Georgia play on October 8th? The team I saw in Knoxville would have lost to Ohio State by four touchdowns.

What did a game last year have to do with anything?

I guess my main point is I think it's difficult to look at a team at the end of the year, seeing how they are playing at the end of the year, and project how they might have played in a season opener.

Was reading some on an OSU board and saw this post by an Auburn fan..good stuff!

Think that's tough Buckeyes? Try this!!
You just got your butt handed to you by LSU.

NOW...try getting up tomorrow...and starting prep to play Florida in Gainesville.

Then prepare to face Georgia in Athens the following week.

Then rest up quick! Because you have Auburn and Tennessee the following two weeks.

THAT'S WHY THE SEC IS THE TOUGHEST CONFERENCE IN AMERICA!!

It's easy to yap about Bowl games...but we have to do this EVERY. SINGLE. WEEK.

interesting thread. i think TN historically has done a good job of scheduling respectably OOC. we don't always have another top notch OOC team, but we usually at least have one game in the OOC that is respectable. and that's going to continue in the future with schedule including Nebraska, OK, Ore, UNC, NCSU etc....plus we'll probably still keep up some sort of series with ND and UCLA as we have over hte past 20 or so years.

throw in some "school of the blind" or two, combined with the SEC schedule and i have no problems with TN's scheduling practices.

i also agree OSU has done better in the OOC scheduling as well, but the big 10 is what hurts them right now. besides Mich, the rest of the league just isn't that great.

when you start saying "we would lose one game in the big 10" or "OSU would lose 3 games w/out schedule", there are cases made for each, but in the end, it doesn't matter. it is what it is, and OSU has proven of late not to be able to deal with SEC teams.

and i think USC is still better than everyone else in the country. both LSU and OSU should be glad USC wasn't in the NT game. LSU would have had their hands a lot fuller than they did last night, and OSU wouldn't have had to wait til the 4th qtr for the game to be over had they played USC.

I want to see documentation of the last time an SEC team played LSU, Florida, Georgia, Auburn, and Tennessee in succession.

no doubt the crescendo of SEC homerism is painful to endure, and nobody plays all of those teams, but the SEC is like the AFC east when compared to the Big 10 right now.
