Doug Gottlieb

If Greg Monroe decides, "You know what? I'm taking over this game and dominating," UT will have no chance.

Depending on which Monroes decides to dominate. He decides he's a point forward, they are in trouble.

Friday night against Marquette, he was the best player I'd seen all season. Saturday night, Wellington Smith but a body on him and he was essentially neutralized.

A "point forward" Greg Monroe is not a dominating Greg Monroe. When Greg Monroe dominates, he gets a 23/12 and plays stout defense, and looks like Kevin Garnett.

you think if WVU meets UK in the elite eight, they can contain UK's size?

Doug Gottlieb is a clueless turd. May have been posted, not going through 3 pages.

While that was hilarious, I have to give him a pass. Those guys had been analyzing and over-analyzing for hours upon hours for days at that point.

I really don't get why people don't like him because he picked SDSU though. There is sound reasoning behind that. The Tyler Smith thing was bunk, they didn't fall apart, but it's hard to argue that Tennessee is a better team without him. They may be better in some aspects of the game out of necessity, but being forced to give significant minutes to guys like Pearl doesn't make you a better team.

Gottlieb is a TOTAL tweeb--the sports "pundit" I like least in all of sports--but I don't have a problem with people picking against us. We aren't that good. With our very weak guard play, we'll be fortunate to win one game. Seriously, all you have to do is look at the box score from the last kentucky game to see how pathetic UT's guards are--and you can't be a threat in the ncaa with guards who on their very best days are mediocre.

I guess I should have spelled that dweeb! Keep in mind also that Gottlieb is a california guy...

You like him less than Seth Davis?

? He is from Wisconsin and played at OK St.

Edit: Oh wait, he played high school ball in Orange County, nm. Thanks for proving me wrong Wikipedia.

Interesting point.

Saint - how should we feel about CBP for recruiting those three guys to be on this team that you feel should leave? And what anout Crews and Ramar? I'm going to just assume they should be gone too in your book. 5 guys he recruited gone in 4 years. What should we make of that?

Young men have bad judgement. Can't put it on CBP for their stupid actions.

So out of roughly 12-15 recruits signed since he got here (I'm not counting them up right now or including the 2010 class), 5 have been kicked off the team for disciplinary reasons.

That's a higher percentage than the heyday of Fulmer's runaway legal freight train accross the street.

You are telling me there were nto warning signs either ignored or passed over before they came to UT?

I'm telling you that unless CBP has access to juvy records or their parents give CBP a heads up that their kid is a gun carrying, snot nose, thug wanna-be, a couple of in house visits and over the phone conversations are not enough to determine one's character.
And as far as early warning signs, only the parents or CBP could answer that question.

I could see that...IF he didn't have about 6 folks in recent history that have had run ins with the law. At some point, it falls on the coach for bringing them in.

I agree. As much as I like Bruce, this problem needs to be solved. Quick.

Or high school coaches.

Or AAU coaches.

Or anyone else inside the circle that is college bball recruiting.

You can find out how much or how little you want to know.

... He has no responsibility or accountability whatsoever?

Haven’t you been reading these boards after every loss or disappointment? Every loss is because the refs screwed us. Any post season disappointment is because the selection committee screwed us. It is always someone else.

Hyperbole noted.

That said, do you not think the selection committee screwed us?

I thought, based upon the rankings that we were a 4 seed. Obviously the committee saw it differently. I have seen arguments made both ways. With that said, the committee screwed Kansas.

What do you think the committee would have done if we lost Thursday rather than Saturday?

Is that why shenanigans are always breaking out in the military?

As a squad leader in the military, your always molding and shaping the young minds of these young kids coming off the street. You can beat the hell out of a person, but in the end it's up to the individual to do what's right.
