Down the Stretch

that post or portions of it were negative however many of my other posts comparing Z and Pearl are not negative at all!

do you disagree that they are ugly to watch?

and since you are apparently the negativity police there are a couple of recent threads and posts that you need to go blast for being "negative".

Does Tennessee's performance in the W/L column show them to be a "good basketball team" at this point in the season?

Here are some stats for you:

Record:

All Games: 11-9

SEC: 3-5

Non Conf: 8-4

10th best team in SEC

other SEC stats:

Scoring - 9th
Rebounds - 6th
FG%- 9th
FT%- 11th
3 PT% - 13th
Assists - 13th
ATO - 11th
Steals - 14th
Blocks - 8th.

I guess since the statistics are negative then my posts is negative. Yet I can't change the stats - they are what they.

I think we can go 8-3 or 7-4 down the stretch and that puts us at 19-11 or 18-12, pretty much where we were last year, right on the bubble going into the SEC tourney where anything can and will happen. RPI is 76. That Wichita State win may come back to be the difference maker. What do yall think?

Doable? I think so.

I highlighted the additional losses I expect down the stretch which renders RPI talk pointless at 16-14.

This isn't a very good team and Martin isn't a very good coach.

I am wondering if one is the product of the other or if they are both independently true. On paper, this team should be better, IMO.

On paper this team is 7th best in the SEC, probably about where we will finish. (and that's with golden)

I'm not talking wins and losses really. I'm talking about what they look like on the floor. They have simply been aweful at times. They have enough talent that they should at least give a good performance. Win or lose.

Gotcha, I agree. I feared yesterday's game was actually gonna be worse with no golden.

Until they win a road game, I would not put a "W" by any road game.

Yeah, I was holding out hope that their road struggles were a product of who they had played. While Arkansas is usually pretty tough at home, Saturday's performance has me reevaluating my expectations.

What bothered me is it seemed that Martin was trying guys out at PG in the 1st half. I saw Moore bring it up and McBee. I thought everyone understood those weren't good options (for at least this year with Moore). It has to be McRae (and as little of Lopez as you can get away with). If McRae can't get it up cleanly then give him help (is CCM completely opposed to having his big men run interference in the backcourt) but don't go back to guys that have already proven they can't handle the job.

Yea idk, that whole situation with PG is frustrating.

Martin is now 3-13 in road games at TN.
Winning road games will determine whether we finish at .500 or above this season.
With 5 left, a 2-3 record and we'll likely finish at 15-15.
I see no sure road victories with the lack of mental toughness and leadership this team possesses.
