Doyel says Kiffin not a jerk

I blame Jack Del Rio. Had Kiffin left for UF, the outrage would be more understandable, imo.

When Urban "retired" the first time , he had Sexton contact Foley about putting his name in the hat for the job. I think LWS was the one who posted that. Don't know if it was here or somewhere else , but it makes you wonder if that is why Urban changed his mind.

That being said , I can't believe people are still talking about this. I have done my best to ignore this thread , but you would think Tennessee fired the guy. If Kiffin reads this place he has to be gut laughing. I'm starting to think this will never stop. It's been debated every way you can think of at least 100 times over. If they as much report a story about him farting it makes it here and it never stays on topic.

I've said my peace. I have been over this a long time now. I didn't mind him leaving for his dream job , just the way he went about it. But anyone defending the calls saying Ed was "just telling them their options" is just bull****. He told them not to go to class if they wanted to join them at SC. Somebody started talking about it ....(One of the EEs) and Douglas grabbed the phone and put it on speaker phone for all to hear. Ed also did it with a phone paid for by Tennessee. It was unethical as hell.

And the topic here about Lane saying he was an idiot and all this talk about him changing and growing up is nothing but talk. I do think he has had no choice but to settle down , but he is still the same person he was here. He just isn't showing that side of himself in public. If he has said anything that is true , it was "I'm an actor". He damn sure is.

I'm not saying that Dooley knows what he is doing because he has yet to prove anything. But Lane had no clue when he was hired. Just read this incase some have forgot.

Volunteer Sources Say Kiffin Never Embraced Tennessee

I read a story not long ago that he ran into Spurrier in Arizona. He told him he was sorry for the way he acted and that "I just wanted to be like you". I did find it funny that Steve told him "Boy, I said those in the summertime and you say those in the season".

Kiffin to Spurrier: "I was just trying to be like you"

I guess in the end he has made friends with all his enemies. Even him and Urban are friends now. Yep. Hell of an acting job while at Tennessee. I was fooled. He is still fooling some of you.

If you want to defend Dooley based on merit, that's great. Let's hear it, what has he done the last 2 years at UT that puts him above criticism here?

Your argument that you need to defend the coach when the coach has own radio show to do that is silly.

I support DD because he is the coach of my University.

You a UT grad?

He would have left for Florida last year anyway, if they would have offered. Layla was all Gator. UT wasnt where he/she wanted to be

Just bad luck that USC ran through 18 other candidates before they had to offer Kiffin

If you hate Kiffin for leaving, then you must hate Dooley too. Dooley really wanted the NC job when it came open in 2011, and made a push for it while being the coach at Tennessee.

Sir, with all due respect, that isn't close to accurate on any level

Dooley must own land on Lake Jordan. Don't forget his uncle Bill was HC at UNC for 10 years. Must be true.

Does Dooley get a pass for leaving La Tech? See, I can understand people hating him, but Dooley did the same thing to Tech

I dont think kiffin is a prick for leaving UT. Its how and when he did it

Plus, I can imagine several people are pissed Dooley did them that way

I dont look at USC being a superior job to UT. If I want to prove myself as the best coach in the business, I do it in the best conference with the best competition

So UT would be a superior job to USC

Or call la tech recruits, advise them not to enroll so he could recruit them, and screw his old team and university over. Nobody gives a s that he left, it's that he acted like a dirty sob when he did it. You can pursue your dream without trying to screw over your present employer. Dools spoke with the president of la tech before leaving to determine the process of handing over his duties as athletic director did he not? It went something like this. " hey boss, I got offered a job making millions of dollars. I think you understand I need to do this for my family. Now how should we handle this?" I know of no contentious dealings between Dools and his former employer. I would assume Hamilton researched this and spoke w la tech before the hire.

Pretty sure he did in fact convince some La Tech recruits to come to UT. There was a QB here for awhile. A four star DB also committed that couldn't make the grades.

Wrong, the recruiting base and power that USC has is enough to make it a better job. Not to mention their tradition and success is higher than ours, and the competition is easier. It is much easier to become a multi national championship coach at USC

Imagine if Dooley had left for UNC last year the backlash. All the bs he has tried to sell since he has been here would blow up in his face. I would be almost certain he would not have made it out of Knoxville, especially on the heels of Kiffin.

But why even bother? Its such a ridiculous idea it doesn't deserve discussion.

A transfer is not analogous to asking your recruiting class not to enroll. Raulston was already on the la tech team and would have to sit out a year to play at tn. Raulston contacted Dools, asked if he could come, and it was handled due to the proper protocol. Try as you might to attempt to justify an equivalency between the two men, it simply doesn't pass the common sense test. The two men are nothing alike.

You are correct. One coach overcame youth, injuries and NCAA issues to be a frontrunner for a nc.

The other is a career loser that's on the hot seat

Here is some common sense. The scenario is not comparable because a class being recruited to la tech is not worthy of bringing with you to UT.
