If the predicted Super College League happens one day, wouldn’t the Texas schools be Texas A&M and Texas-Austin? IF there was a third school included, wouldn’t Houston , Baylor, Texas Tech, or Texas Christian get the spot before Southern Methodist?

Hard to say for sure if you get just pure money involved. Some of the guys in the eighties funneling money into SMU; that’s several billionaires. It’s Dallas, so who knows.

It is an irony that the forces that are transforming CFB are shifting new momentum toward SMU becoming a football contender.

What are some other programs who can get a new lease on life in this environment?

Vanderbilt could be a sleeping giant if a small portion of their endowment shifted to football. A big if.
I had thought maybe Jackson State....Deion had brought them up to 42k attendance per game....which is better than quite a few P5 schools.
MEAC is down to 6 schools. Fla A&M went to the SWAC and NC A&T went to the Colonial.

I wouldn't be shocked if MEAC and SWAC merged.

The day SMU hires our AD away is the day UT sports are officially dead lmao

Everyone has a price and it’s not only money…I don’t believe this is a real threat but it wouldn’t be the most shocking thing I’ve ever seen either…it’s just how this world/society works
Yes it would. Zero chance.

Which is what people always say, until there is.
On the flip side, alarmists can be wrong a thousand times in a row, then that 1,001st time they're right, and that's enough to carry forward the stupidity for another 1,000 times.

If you're almost always wrong, don't be so quick to celebrate the odd time when you're right.

Go Vols!

Hopefully he will take the job if it is offered to him. Heupel is on his 5th year, and I don't want anything holding back about keeping him if the season crashes and burns.

The guy doesn't walk on water and he has made plenty of errors while here. Giving Heupel a contract extension without earning it was his biggest mistake.

Hopefully you GTFO here long before Danny decides to bolt.

Your no walk on water UT fan either, actually your not much of a fan at all. Find another team to complain about, that’s all you do. Get used to Heupel and White being here, there aren’t going anywhere for the foreseeable future. GBO!!!!

I get your point, and I am not in loservol's camp, BUT the big difference I see between White and Heupel is that White seems to have a sense of urgency all the time. And that's good. He is full force, pedal all down all the time. I don't see that same urgency with Heupel.

And I do see a need for Heupel NOT to get complacent with 'bringing us back to respectibility' but to go like White (and Saban for that matter) and be pedal down all the time and NOT be satisfied until he gets a NC. Heupel seems to lack that. And I'm concerned that White is loyal to Heupel all the way, perhaps TOO far.

Time will tell. We need to keep both of them for now.

Dabo would’ve been canned long before he won a national title at Clemson if some fans were in charge. Tennessee was a dumpster fire when Heupel got here. He’s improved the team in that lockerroom and on the field every year he’s been here.

It makes sense. A little more TV money potential.
