yea i really like our chances with nichols, the only way i really start to worry is if duke gets invoved, that will scare me a bit.
honest question because i dont keep up with the pulse of memphis: if memphis fails to make the tournament as it appears they might, and doesnt have a good showing in the NIT, whats the feeling around memphis? hot seat for pastner, or is he safe?
if you had to make a realistic prediction for our 13' signing class what would you say? obviously a bit early and lots will definitely change, but just curious on your thoughts.
It's very early. And so many things can change as MC pointed out. If Duke never offers, I'm very confident we get Nichols. Then my confidence drops 60% if they do.
My guess (right now and somewhat positive, because I have a lot of faith in CCM):
Landry
Bowles
King or Thornwell
Nichols
Kingsley
Would be a top 10, almost top five class.
I think Kentucky will try to make a big push for JW3 and King though. It's going to be a battle.
JW3 I could see - but King I don't know. Cal already has offers out in that class to two small forwards (Jabari Parker and Troy Williams). I would think King would be quite cold toward UK at this point anyway. JMO
It's unlike Cal to go for the less athletic, worse-overall of two prospects that are in the same city. But I hope you're right.
No doubt King is the better prospect. I just figured he was offended by Cal's interest in Troy Williams primarily. Pure speculation on my part - no inside info here.
Question for you: Could King play the 4?
You think so? I've not seen him play in person, I'm sure he's capable. Does he prefer perimeter game or posting up more?
Cal's more prone to slide a tall SF down to the 4 than utilize two 4's or a 4 and a 5 in his rotation.
King prefers a perimeter game, but the kid is 6'8" or 6'9" now, 225. He can grab rebounds if need be. I'm not sure how well he'd defend a physical 4 on defense, but he's got the length to cause problems.
It's not as big without Cuse or Pitt
