Drum line hype session

Absolutely loved it! Got the players hype and the crowd going. I like the new additions Butch and company have put in this year. Not only gets the players amped up, but also engages the fans and fires them up. At least it did me. Neyland has always been an outstanding game day atmosphere, but I believe little additions like this and 3rd down for what are added elements that recruits will enjoy when taking in a game at Neyland Stadium. Butch gets it and his recruiting proves it.

Thanks, but couldn't hear them

then it worked. Got the players fired up, got the fans fired up.

This Jones/Ryder relationship is fantastic. Incorporating both game day attractions - the team and the Pride - only makes the experience that much better.

A lot different that the mid 80s when Dr J and Coach Majors didn't see quite eye to eye. They got into it one time on the field when the players were coming back on the field after half time. The announcer said the "rise and join as the POTSB plays our Alma Mater". Doc told the drum major to count it off and the band marched straight off the field without playing it.

You can't say Butch isn't working is tail off to bring excitement to the program. But he's doing the correct way by getting the band involved, etc. You probably have to go back to Doug Dickey (running through the T) to see a coach work with the band like this.

Thanks for posting. That was pretty neat. I remember seeing a video preseason about how they were going to implement the band and the players in a "circle drill" and I was thinking how was that going to happen at a halftime performance?? Now I see - pregame warmups!

LOVED LOVED LOVED it!!!

Also loved the band members in the band section forming the T while the others were on the field. That was cool as hell. I think it was halftime maybe?

Affectionately known as the 'Power T of Shame'

All those not good enough to make the field or are there for disciplinary reasons.

he is still interim. Making good strides to get the job permanently, though.

He has my vote...wish it counted for something. I don't mean this to sound cheesy although I know it will but it felt like the band, the team and the fans were all "One Tennessee" Sunday night. It was a great experience.

That's pretty cool, but maybe it would have been better if the players acted like they were jamming out on air guitar while the band played "Livin on a Prayer?"

Wholeheartedly agree with you. It brings me great joy to see athletes, who may someday be making millions per year, celebrating with the band.

This. Simply this, is always how it should be, how it always should have been.

Unfortunately, they aren't disposable, but they are made of bodybag-like material. They don't breathe at all, so on hot rainy days, they are miserable to wear because you're hot, sweaty, wearing 20 lbs of wool uniform, and wrapped in a body bag.

And if you don't lay them out to dry, they will mildew and stink like a packed up wet tent.

While I know exactly what you're talking about, I'm pretty sure he's talking about the orange body condoms the crowd is wearing in the first video, not the band.

Wow, the POTS gets off the couch and stirs things up!! (And I realize that the last several years of yawners was not the fault of the band itself.)

Epic!

Team circling the drummers while high-fiving each other then going completely nuts in the middle.

The Aggies must have been searching for some clean pants after that.

My son (in the Pride) said the new director and Butch have been secretly working that one up for weeks now.

Thoughts on this new tradition?

Then they need to secretly work on getting the salute to the hill fixed. The fact that that tradition is gone sucks ass.
