Been going to games for a long, long, long time and this was epic. Almost as epic as the first time they started Running thru the T. Kudos to those that made it happen.

Lol, you must be referring to Ryder.

He's definitely got a lot of jackass in him. Maybe he got that tweaked when he had the bypass done.

While I know exactly what you're talking about, I'm pretty sure he's talking about the orange body condoms the crowd is wearing in the first video, not the band.

Good catch. I blew that one.

He didn't. He's still a horrible human being. I put in 4 years and never got formal invites for Alumni Band. I got invited by other alums and refused. I won't go back until he is no longer involved with the Pride. Stewart should be promoted immediately. He's superior to Ryder.

I share similar feelings.

Thanks, but couldn't hear them

It was literally incredible live... you could hear the band much better in person....and the crowd had kinda mellowed from earlier excitement due to the downpour. This brought the crowd back to life....tenfold. The videos don't do this justice. Loudest applause for the band in many many many moons....and they deserved it!

I also did 4 years, and was a squad leader my last 2. I never got anything for alumni band until last year, but I had to call Judy and tell her I wasn't getting anything and I guess she added me to the list. Not saying that's a solution, and I completely agree that their alumni outreach needs a bigger presence than what it is.

My interactions with Ryder were few and far between. I definitely heard things about how he treated people, but never personally experienced anything, good or bad.

Loved the experience! Enroute back to seats in XX when this happened. Now WHY did the POTS only play two songs & alma mater at halftime? The crowd sat on its hands for the final 14 minutes! The band is terrific, but there's a real lack of "arrangements"; mostly unison riffs & cheer ditties. I miss those classic Barry McDonald arrangements!

The silence was probably because of the lack of the visiting band.

I never had a formal invite to Alumni band and I marched 5 years under Julian, Sparks and Romines. Bite the bullet and request information.

There are quite a few people that I know that would be hesitant to do so. The environment was very toxic there for a few years and it drove a lot of people away after a year or two in.

It's alumni band, the only people I really encounter are the people I march beside and old friends.

^what he said

Go have fun. You can go march bad and do dumb stuff and never get yelled at. String a circle in which you'll never land on that spot anyway. You'll enjoy it more than you think.

I was going to be a senior, 4th year marcher my last year. There was 1 going to be junior, 3rd year marcher. Everyone else was sophomore or freshmen. That asshat picked 2 of the becoming-sophomores to be squad leaders over me. He can burn in a fire and I'd look for marshmallows. And I don't even like marshmallows.

lol

If everyone got mad about squad leader selections, we'd all be salty.

One thing I was very happy with was them bringing back the Mr. T cadence. I was sad, though, that they didn't play very quietly through the play and bring it back up for like 3-5 consecutive plays. Really made the FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO so much more epic than one SUCKA followed immediately by a FOOOOO.

I was pissed that I had to teach all the new people everything because they picked people that literally had 1 season under their belts instead of those who knew how things worked. Then the Junior got relieved of his duties and, instead of promoting me for the 2nd half of my last season, they took the sister of our grad student, a clarinet, to take over as my squad leader.

I think I remember hearing about that from Allegra. Maybe I'm wrong, I can't remember.

It doesn't surprise me in the slightest, though.

The band normally plays longer even if there is a visiting band. Is this one of the changes they are making to reduce the band's playing time? If so, it makes no sense.

I don't believe so. I thought it was odd that they went right to the finale, but when I heard it was Sing Sing Sing, I just assumed they were going to play the entire song, which is kind of long. Since it was the first show and they played such a difficult song, I give them a pass on only playing 2 songs instead of 3.

A little off topic but do any of you guys remember which pregame last year the players made an inner and outer circle and swept the ground with their hands in opposite directions? I would like to youtube it but I have no idea what it was called. It was way cool.
