DT recruiting- Cause for Concern?

There’s five months left to go before early signing day and a lot of new names and commit shuffling that is going to happen between now and then.

Freak out in November and only if we’re having a poor season, because otherwise we’ll be fine.
Yep we will be in top 12-16 in recruiting, behind 5-6 other sec schools. But no worry. our coaches will overcome those disadvantages. Recruiting ranking mean little anyway.

Honestly our recruiting on both sides of the line could improve if our goal is to be elite. And I think that should come with sustained success. Right now the staff coaches up our players and trust in the system to counterbalance any talent advantage the Georgias and Bamas have.

I'm not concerned but I do wonder why we haven't signed or got commitments from a few 5 star caliber players at the DL position

With only one DT commit in the ‘23 class, and none so far in the ‘24 class, how concerned are you? Heard is listed as a DT, but I don’t think it’s a certainty that he stays there. You can’t win at the highest level without very good d-line play, and I’d hate to overrely on the portal. It’s a bit perplexing how we haven’t been able to recruit this position with more success given CRG’s reputation.

There is zero concern for any position we are recruiting right now. If it’s late October? Mid November and we still haven’t gotten some good DL recruits, then it might be cause for concern. But then again factor in the portal and the concern becomes even less.

The biggest DL pickups CRG has had have been late in the cycle. Bryon Young (Dec 16th), Tyre West (Dec 15th), James Pearce (Dec 15th), Joshua Josephs (Nov 22nd), Daevin Hobbs (Nov 25th). Caleb Herring and Chandavian Bradley were outliers. They committed early (April and July). Omar Norman-Lott transferred in early January.

I'm sure they'll take their primary targets down to the wire for Early Signing Day in December, then address what they missed with the transfer portal.

TLDR: No need to freak out with this position group in July, especially when the primary DL targets haven't committed.
