Duke Crews and Ramar Smith Dismissed

well i for one have to question his ability to recruit someone with character than can ball. it's a hard job and why so very few excel at it, but as a coach you have to recruit players that not only can play their sport but can be an asset to the university.

A player like that is very difficult to find these days.

There may be some validity to that. But it's also a little bit of people wanting a winner but not wanting to watch how the sausage is made.

very well said.

It's very difficult for a coach to be able to successfully determine what an 18 year old is going to do when they are in college. But it's unfair for a president or other higher up school official to say someone with Huggy's reputation will never coach here, yet Bruce Pearl with his past and current transgressions is viewed as a god by so many, including those higher up school officials.

i mean seriously, it's a little embarrassing to comprehend that the 3 biggest coaches at UT have all been tattle tales at some point in their career.

Man ncvol, your user title is the truest one I've ever seen.... Been here since Oct. '03 and have 190 posts!!! :eek:hmy:

Friend of the Grand Poohbah and got in on the ground floor. Man of few words I guess but stay very entertained.

If some of these clueless people actually had lives and knew what all university students were doing, they wouldn't be so critical of someone getting kicked off the team for possibly smoking weed. These two have no character? Well then, I guess a good percentage of graduates from this university and many, many others just plain have no character! Give me a break, get real.

I mean I don't want that reputation either, but I also want to know that everything is fair and everyone is playing by the rules...

Does this mean that you think that our roster is full of players with bad character that are detrimental to the team? Ou guys, overall, seem to be standup guys. You seem to be describing Calapari.

Look at the number of off the field/court issues Tennessee has had over the years. It's getting way past ridiculous. I understand you can't control them all, but it's getting way out of hand.

You should join the fray more often (you're making us all look like we don't have a life).. According to what I read you can't be a guru without 17 million posts.. :eek:lol:

Sounds like you would rather sit back, turn your head and let people get away with unethical practices. There is nothing wrong with telling the truth and doing the right thing and if it hurts the game and your teams chances then you would be an idiot to keep your mouth shut. When you sit back and do nothing, you are condoning the actions. You seem to have things backwards.

It is out of hand . . . and it's that way everywhere. That's not an excuse, it's just the reality the past several years.

Are you sure that you are discussing the right sport? It sounds like you are referring to Fulmer's boys. The comments on this thread are about basketball unless I've missed something along the way.

just go out and win the game that matters. It's that simple. Taping a recorder to yourself just isn't ethical at all.

Also, i'm sure Pearl, Summit nor Fulmer have ever cheated at recruiting. Ever. EVER.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, as far as I know, no UT sport has ever been on probation for anything. If I were a coach who followed the rules, I'd be very irked if I knew my rival was not following the rules.

yeah, because ratting out Bama according to many got Fulmer out of trouble for other things.

You're kidding yourself if you think that most coaches with much tenure haven't somehow either turned in somebody or at least nudged an investigation.

how many have taped a recorder to themselves though?
