I wouldnt say that.....K learned alot of Bob Knight, but he didnt learn it all.i respect what UCLA and coach wooden way back when. they did something unbelievable that will probably never happen again. the game has changed so much.
may be a stretch here but coach is one of the best, if not THE best, coach of the modern era of college basketball.
Dickens, I am calling it a night. What's your major? You would make a good debater if you want my opinion. Always wanting to argue and debate. Good luck to Bruce's boys because they are going to have a tougher conference schedule than the Dukies will....Either way I don't see Duke making it out of the sweet 16 and I dont see UT coming out of the 8.
What it doesn't mention is that ONE school has won more titles than both programs combined... In fact more than Duke (3), UNC (4), and NC St (2) combined.
UCLA.
This year's ACC is not the toughest conference.compare the two teams (Duke now and UCLA then). Duke plays in the hardest conference; no idea about UCLA's conference back then. Duke plays in a larger conference and plays more games in the regular season; conferences back then were small and teams did not play as many games as teams do now. Duke plays in the modern 65 team tourny; UCLA played in a, at most, 32 team tourny (but i think it might've been 16 then).
granted, only conference tourny champs got into the NCAA tourny way back when.
Do not interpret this as me bashing UCLA. I'm showing a comparison on how the game has changed. Like I said, I respect what UCLA/Wooden did back then.
K's still on pace, but he doesn't need that record to validate that he is one of the greatest of all time. He and Knight both built legendary programs from scratch, won 3 titles and won a truckload of games. Very, very few belong in their category.my bad. forgot about bob knight. BUT, coach k is (or was) on pace to beat his all-time wins record. not sure about it now.
you simply said they play in the best conference. that's very debateable. they might play in the conference with the two best teams year in and year out.i didn't say this year. i was comparing eras. yes, ACC is weak this year, but modern era, they are the best.
do i really have to re-post that Duke/UNC stat again?
