'25 Duke RB Transfer Star Thomas (TENNESSEE)

Duke wasn’t sad to see him leave so seems like they were ready to see him gone. Not sure why exactly we should be pumped about this commit.
UCF wasn’t sad to see Heup go, VT wasn’t sad to see Hooker go, USC wasn’t sad to see Velus/Bru go, Alabama wasn’t sad to see Kitselman go, etc. etc.

The coaching staff evaluates running backs well — no reason to think this is any different.

I value your input.

This is why I complain. Take every RB I’ve mentioned and throw them out the window.

If he’s a better/more experienced Lewis, then why not just go get a “stud”?

If he’s coming in here and say beats out Lewis, what’s the difference in that and getting someone that’s actually really really good.
I will say, you have been consistent in your desire for a top transfer RB.

Not sure how he is a 3rd down back because from what I have seen he doesn’t hit the hole full speed he does a ton of side to side steps. Nor does he have more wiggle than Bishop so don’t really see the 3rd down back.

This too me is a “pew-pew” commit and not a boom. Duke wasn’t sad to see him leave so seems like they were ready to see him gone. Not sure why exactly we should be pumped about this commit.
Auburn was really happy to get rid of Bo Nix…then he was a Heisman finalist and had a fantastic rookie season in the NFL. Fit/scheme/coaching matter

It would take an idiot to think CJH is wasting a very tight roster spot on a player he does not see in the mix in a room with no upperclassmen.

I think those of us who look at this kid and go "meh" are hoping to be proven wrong. I certainly am. Hell, that's how I felt about Kitselman, and he surprised the hell out of me. Of course, I also thought Staes would be a stud (and so did the coaches) and he kind of fizzled. So, while I hope Star lives up to his name, I'll wait for it to happen on the field. Right now, just doesn't excite me that much. Hoping the two Eric says we (possibly) pick up this week are more exciting.

Even though I’m underwhelmed, I don’t get the “depth piece” talk. this kid is most likely gonna start. I’m sure they’ve looked at his pass pro as a main factor. Lewis was not good which is normal for a freshman (maybe he takes a big step there) Bishop still struggles at it.

I think Peyton Lewis is going to be really good. Thomas will def play a lot by virtue of being good in pass pro.

I think Bishop is a more dynamic runner, but you just can't trust him to stay healthy.

With Star, Bishop, Lewis and the freshmen, I am not worried about the RB room.

I think you also have to add in the fact that this staff doesn't like to sub on offense so they can keep matchups on the field. Which helps your point bc you trust Star more over an entire drive in pass pro

I'm worried about not having a Dylan Sampson to mask defencies in the passing game and OL

Bingo.

Everyone keeps pointing at the 22 season…I think it will be slightly below that. I’m thinking 2019.

Chandler: 655 yards, 4.9ypc
Gray: 539 yards, 5.3ypc
Jordan: 428 yards, 4.1ypc

Looks like a solid pick up to me. Plus he shouldn’t have broken the bank. Running backs will get yards in this offense. Plus it leaves more money for that illusive, splash wide receiver everyone has been dreaming of. 😂. Heupel really does listen to Volnation. 😎

Did you watch DSamp? Most times he hesitated and then exploded once the crease opened. That method is most effective. Running into a pile of bodies full speed is stupid.

It seems like Tennessee fans don’t believe players can get better from year to year.

Y’all act like Sampson, Smalls, and Wright were highly touted coming into TN. They were all 3 stars. Out of all position groups, since Heup has been here, RBs have been developed and excelled. Heck even Small is still on the titans. Thomas-Bishop-Lewis will be a good trio and every one of them brings something different to the table.

BUT 2 sophomores and 2 freshmen is not enough experience to feel comfortable and especially to be 1 injury away from a greenie being 2nd in the rotation. I think the comparison with Small is pretty fair. Love for Morris to show up and make his speed feasible and NOT look like a FR, it happens. But that would be as sketchy a position on the Homer side as all the MEHs on the NEGA side.
