Same for me.

I'd love to win Monday, but Kansas looks like the best team in the country right now. Regardless, I'm happy Hubert Davis has proven the a--holes wrong. There were already some people calling for him to be fired in Dec / Jan; didn't even give him a chance.

Stupid take? Lol did Roy Williams do this or Dean Smith? Both great coaches who gracefully bowed out at the end of the year not making a spectacle of their retirement…You know why…because they are not full of themselves which is why most ppl do not like Duke and coach K

North Carolina fans are going to savor this one for a long time.

Yeah sure, they’re going to play for another national championship.

But they also:

-Knocked their main rival out of the tournament.
-Beat their rival in perhaps the biggest, most-important post-season game in the history of the series.
-Punctuated a legendary coach’s career, by ending it with a loss.
-Prevented their rival from winning (let alone playing for) another national championship.
-Made sure the best coach in the their rival’s history didn’t go out winning a national championship.
-Made sure that the last college basketball game for Krzyzewski - the greatest coach in the history of their rival’s program and who it could be argued really built Duke into the level of basketball powerhouse that they are today - wasn’t just a loss, but specifically a loss to them; he’ll forever have gone out in the end losing to the school’s main rival, North Carolina.

The national championship opportunity seemingly just feels like icing on the cake here.

In all candor, there are a few Dookies I know that are good guys that I feel bad for, and I would add @RDU VOL#14 to that list. But for the vast majority of Dook fans, as well as K himself, I feel nothing but schadenfreude.

For this UNC fan, tonight was The Game. The NC game, if it goes well, is but icing on the cake, if it goes poorly, frankly I’m shocked we got this far.

I don’t care what Smith or Williams did. There were legitimate reasons why he wanted it this way. Didn’t want to lie to recruits. Wanted to smooth the transition to Scheyer. It’s probably why Duke has the #1 class next year and will keep it. I get it, you don’t like him. Fine, I’m not going to convince you otherwise. But you’re literally making crap up about him. I’ve never heard anyone make the claims you’re making. He has faults… but being full of himself or being a narcissist aren’t on the list. Sorry. Come up with something remotely accurate. Have a good night.

Am I assuming sure but I can’t think of another great coach in the history of college basketball giving himself this type of retirement but you can go off in your worship of him

Actually, Dean retired abruptly and shortly before the season started because he wanted Bill Guthridge to have a chance to be a head coach and this way, there wasn’t enough time for the AD to find someone else.

Thanks.. I think. No need to be feel bad. It was a helluva basketball game. Someone had to win amd the wrong team did. Hats off to the Heels, UNC has somehow , someway, done a 180 from January, early February and gotten to the National title game. I’m honestly shocked .

I don’t mind you and some of the others regulars that go back and forth on here talking smack. That’s the purpose of the thread . The funny thing is that this thread probably has more traffic and comments every year on the day when Duke loses in the tournament than any other . People just show up to talk $hit, even though most don’t even know why they hate Duke. It’s like clockwork and its comical.

Understood. You know my reasons, at least they aren’t random! 😎😎

All smack aside, that last 3-4 minutes was about the most intense play I’ve seen in a long time in college BB. Both teams gave it everything they had. Neither got sloppy. As I was watching, heart rate, I fear, never below 120, I was thinking that whoever won will know they got the best game possible from the other team. I’m glad is was Carolina.

I’d be shocked if we have anything left for Kansas.

Well, that’s a tough way to go out and the turnaround for UNC is pretty staggering. But it was a great game and there’s never any shame in making it to the final 4.

Great game Duke. I didn’t expect them to keep this run going I thought they’d come out flat and never recover.

I’m not sure what’s left for Monday considering Kansas made Nova look like a play in team but hopefully it’s another great game.
