Duke/UNC Official Thread 2021/2022 (K’s Last Hurrah Edition)

That Coach K special on TBS just now was awesome. So well made.
hope it will be repeatedpprior
I worked in sports department of the Durham Morning Herald for couple of his years prior to k's hiring, ,and my son was in mother's womb as wife worked in the Duke library. Great memories of those years. Got to work to work duke games more than other writers as they were UNC grads. Spanarkel was favorite player, John Feinstein was great to work with, and K was the first time I used a save/get key othrer writ

a davidson grad here, who knows the pain of losing to tar heels

Both of the last two Duke/UNC games when it was tight with 5ish minutes left, Duke was getting -300ish and UNC was getting +250ish

Good grief.

He is an excellent coach. Knows the recruiting game and plays it as well as anyone ever. He is not a saint.

I admire General Neyland, but I don’t confer sainthood on him.

Dookies and the K-lapdog media just crack me up with the K worship.

Tends to happen when you have a hall of fame coach and NBA talent all over the court on one side and a first year head coach with maybe one player that will play in the league on the other. Hats off to Carolina… they deserve it. Did the little things better and more consistently than Duke, especially last night.

Hyperbole is fun. Worship is literally too strong, but the almost pure image of K held among Dookies and the media is laughable.

Dookies see no arrogance or intense ego in the man. He is honorable, beloved by all who work with him, and one of the most gifted shapers of young men ever to grace the planet. He plays by the rules, and recruits on pure charisma, ability, and character. He is beyond question and above reproach.

This year long tour has nothing to do with a large ego and a need to be honored. It is a carefully crafted, brilliant strategy developed ONLY to help the program. Frankly, K hates the adoration and limelight, and wishes only to go quietly, remembered as a humble man who taught a few guys to shoot a ball into a peach basket.

A quiet man of music, denied a simpler fate......no, wait.......that’s a Dan Fogelberg song....

Ok

I don’t think anyone is some have even indirectly said he’s absolutely cheated theres just no way to prove it and there never will be. I’m ok with that because as an old coach once said: “you ain’t trying if you ain’t cheating in the triangle”

If you missed it Coach K went and found Bacot after game and personally checked on him saying: “I’m glad your ok you were my player of the year”
Class act when most coaches get back on the bus.
Not possible … unless he was doing it only so that he’d get praised as being a class act. What a narcissist. (Not directed at you).

Bacot was up walking around so hopefully that means he’ll play Monday
Hope so too. Would want both sides to be close to full strength. Heck of a player even though I’m not sure that he can set a non-moving screen. I actually agreed with him when he was incredulously asking the ref last night why they called a foul on him. He did the same thing every time. Not sure why they decided to call it that one time.

Coach K is 50-50 against UNC all time for those that don’t know K asked the ncaa for 2 losses to be expunged from his record and to be given to his assistant coach one year where he felt ill

I just look at it like this is when guard play matters most, so 1:3 vs. 2.5:1 seems out of wack
