Durant Can't Bench 185

tell me about Garnett's basketball skills.

Garnett is a 7 footer with some athletic ability and 'decent' skills. He can't shoot well and handles poorly. Durant can shoot circles around him, can handle the ball on the wing. I'd give KG the edge in rebounding and on D with shot blocking. That is because he is 7 feet tall and has nothing to do with skill level.

Go look at his career shooting percentage.

For his career he is a 49% shooter. That is very very good. He does have range but isn't a good three point shooter. Watch him play, not all of his shots are dunks, he is a very good shooter!!!

Rebounding, defense and shot blocking have nothing to do with skill level ?!?!?!?!

He averages 20 ppg 11.4 rebounds and 4.5 assists for his career.

Are you going to tell me he is a good passer because he's tall? That is a basketball skill as well.

To say Garnett has SOME athletic ability and DECENT b-ball skills is down right funny!!!!!!!!!!!!

to say KG is just tall and that's the only reason he is decent might show how much this person knows about basketball. which is absolutely nothing

I promise you KG doesn't bench 185.
Maybe now Garnett can bench 185, but at 18 years old, I heard someone say that he couldn't do it. Also, when Akeem came here from Nigeria, he couldn't even lift the bar...

Here's a good artcle from last year that explains just how much credibilty we should be placing in these NBA numbers...

DraftExpress: But Can He Play? Analyzing the NBA Pre-Draft Combine Results

The choice is yours. Would you rather have a physical specimen or a basketball player if you were an NBA GM?

Reggie Miller was all bones and I doubt he could bench press 185 either but I'd say he had a pretty decent career.

Look at his career avg for rebounds and assists, truely pathetic for such a "great" player.

Reggie Miller and Durant have zero in common.

Miller was a catch and shoot player who came off of screens to get his points. IMO he was very overrated.

Where did you find that? That's only 45 lbs and would be crazy if he couldn't do that.

At no point in this thread have I or anyone else said we wouldn't take him with the second pick.

He will obviously get stronger before the start of the season. If not he will get pushed around when he goes to the post in the NBA.

That is, without question, the most ridiculous thing I've read on this board. It's stupid and it's not true.

It may be a bit of a stretch but especially if you play in the post it is very physical. You never have a break from the constant contact unless you are on the bench. Not like you get to rest if you play defense and your offense has the ball in football.

Im not saying that it isnt physical to play in the post in basketball, but there is a reason that you have to wear a helmet and pads in Football and Hockey.

I agree they are all totally different, but equally as challenging!

Ask Knicks fans how overrated Reggie was

He was a great shooter and clutch. Nobody could argue that.

Miller averaged 18 ppg 3 reb and 3 assists for his career. How many other "great" players have that sort of stat line?

How would Miller be remembered if not for 10 seconds in Madison Square Garden?

Back to this combine, are the results of it posted somewhere online? Has the link already been posted in this thread and I've just missed it? TIA & GB.

that's right, I know nothing of hoops. KG really is a point guard in a center's body, just like the marketing folks of the NBA dubbed him.

Say what you will, I'm still advocating that Durant is more skilled than KG.

To say KG isn't as skilled as Durant is making me think you don't know basketball.

Who on earth ever marketed KG as a point guard?
