Define disappointing. He averaged 15.3ppg as a freshmen... That's pretty damn impressive.
This is the type response I am leery of when we land big-time prospects. Everyone expects more. 15.3 ppg was disappointing. Scotty Hopson averaged 17 ppg as a junior, and he was a bust to some of our fans.
Robert Hubbs beware.
I hope ejvols' memory is clouded by the disappointment of the 2010-11 season as a whole, and not by Tobias' play. Here's a reminder of just how good he really was for a freshman.
Tobias Harris Profile - UTSPORTS.COM - University of Tennessee Athletics
Maybe he was great by our program's standards, but he was nowhere near the Durants, Anthonys and Michael Beasleys of the college basketball world.
That entire season was just a major disappointment in general.
He was good his freshman year, but the talk around VN makes it sound like Harris had some legendary freshman year. You could see he had the talent all year, but then he'd have games like that College of Charleston debacle that just left you scratching your head. He was a very raw player during his time at UT.
What a moronic statement. All 3 of the guys you mentioned where the #1 players in their respective classes, or top 2, Harris was not. So you're saying you expected a guy who was rated lower to have the same impact as guys who were rated the best players in their class?
What's next, Robert Hubbs is supposed to perform like Wiggins and Randle?
He was the #4 overall recruit in the country. So yes, maybe my expectations were skewed a little by the hype, but considering he was in the same top 10 as Kyrie Irving, Harrison Barnes and Jared Sullinger, pardon me for being a little disappointed by what he did during his season here.
My point was that we only got a brief glimpse of Tobias' potential during his time at UT. He was 18 years old at the time and was still physically maturing. His game needed alot of work after his freshman year and it's good that he's put in that work at the next level. Now that he's grown into his game, I think he can be a very productive NBA player.
At least he didn't turn out like Josh Selby.

No we couldn't care any less than we do. Dwight will never have a jersey retired. He lost thy chance by his antics in recent years. I said this during the fiasco, Dwight's legacy is ruined. He will never be immortalized by a banner of any kind. He doesn't deserve and never will deserve it. What a goon.Tobias is already a better teammate for the Magic than Howard ever dreamed about being in all his years in Orlando.
And seriously, its a freaking number. Its not retired. Its not even special. Orlando fans couldn't care less about Howard's opinion on the issue
which service had him #4 overall? And when you compare him to the players you mentioned, he had just as good of a season as all of them with the exception of maybe sullinger. They got the pub because they played for bluebloods. If Tobias had chosen Syracuse over us, his perception in the media would've been much different.
