Dylan Wiesman (OL) Commits

You can argue all you want about stars and I think they are inaccurate myself FWIW. You can't argue against offer lists. When we are the only SEC school offering these kids, it's a concern. When we are just taking Cincinnati's old recruits, it is a concern. Cincinnati was Dooley's signature win! We may get lucky on a couple, but when we fill our class with these type of players we will have a tough time catching Bama, UF, UGA, Texas A&M, LSU etc...
Of course every time we get one of these to commit, people always say he is "under the radar" or "a diamond in the rough". Well they can't all be "under the radar" or "diamonds"!

Reality check.....we are trying to catch Vandy, Mizzou, Ole Miss, Miss. St. One step at a time........

It doesn't show on any of the offer lists on rivals, 247, or scout...TIFWIW

It isn't worth very much. They only update those periodically and probably won't now since it no longer matters. It is not rare that someone commits to a school that Rivals does not show an offer for.

If some of you can't figure out why posting the same thing over and over in a thread ten times gets deleted, I'm not sure I can help you.

Thomas was a 3* weighing 260 lbs when he committed to Fulmer. Next year he will be on a n NFL roster.

1 in 10 three star players may end up being really good in college. we have 13 recruits that are 3 star players. even if you get 4 or 5 that are good we are going to whiff on 10 to 13.

First, please link some support for your stat, that I believe you pulled out of your hat.

Secondly...

The problem with your statistical effort is that we haven't gotten commits for all 3 stars in a random draw. We have gotten commits from a small sampling of all 3 stars, based on evaluation and selection. So, talent evaluation and coaching-up will have a great deal of impact on how the 3 stars at UT will progress. With proper talent evaluation and coaching, the 3-star population at UT may be front-loaded as the portion of 3-stars that end up being really good.

Welcome to the volnation young man, as you will see you're now part of one of the greatest families in college sports, like all families we are alittle screwed up but still family. Make us proud to have you is all i ask for, that and some pancake blocks .

you could be right on this, but the offer lists are far from great. also i have seen this kid first hand and was not impressed. he was on a great team, and it was just one game i saw him, but didn't see anything special. if osu did offer him i would be surprised because they are in on the top dogs and from what i saw he is going to need alot of seasoning.

Check this offer list:

Baylor
Colorado St.
Iowa St.
Louisiana Tech
Oregon
Rice
Stanford
UTSA
Texas A&M
Tulsa
Wyoming

Not one SEC school (aTm was Big 12 then)

Yet we just watched him STOMP the Sooners last night and win the heisman as a freshman.

Recruiting is an art not an exact science and stars are nothing more than guesses/hopes. IMO character, work ethic and coaching will take 3 stars to championships just as quickly and easily as it does 4/5 stars. GBO and Go CBJ!

Since 2010 Saban has recruited and/or signed 37 3* recruits. :whistling:

A lot if not almost all of those had other SEC offers. Bama rarely signs a player over Cincinnati, UCF, Ball State, MTSU etc... It's not about the stars, it's about who we are recruiting against because then you know how other coaching staffs feel about a recruit.
In Dooley's first class he immediately came in and went after recruits that were interested in Georgia, Auburn Alabama and others. He even signed some of those players. If we continue to sign Cincinnati's old class we will have a Big East level team and continue to struggle against mid tier SEC teams.
We paid over 7-8 million in buyouts and gave his hand picked staff huge raises so we could compete for SEC championships against Bama, LSU, UGA and Florida. Remember he promised the best staff in America. Setting the bar lower won't get us out of this rut anytime soon and it starts with getting better players.

The press conference I watched said we were trying to win SEC Championships. It also said we were hiring the best coaching staff in America.
When Florida hired Urban they weren't thinking of just stopping the losing that Zook had brought. When Georgia hired Richt, they weren't thinking of beating Vandy. We didn't build that incredible football facility to compete with the schools you are naming. Thinking like that and setting the bar that low won't produce championships and get us back in the national discussion anytime soon.

looks like were getting commits from cincy.im not bashing the kid or anything but he has to bring in talent to compete in the sec.i dont see bringing in players he was recruiting to cincy called getting it done.I like BJ and hope he can turn this around.

It is like I have been saying for weeks, CBJ is saying all of the right things on the radio and in front of the t.v. camera but let's just wait and see how that translates to the on field performance.

Remember, we were all sold on the t.v. interviews and the radio interviews by Kiffin. Real impressive!!!
