Dylan Wiesman (OL) Commits

3 star linemen that can be red shirted are ok. Where we need 4 and 5 star players is in the skilled positions.

Yes we are. In case you forgot, Vandy crushed us and Mizzou won as well.

OHHHH Vandy beats us once in how many years and all of a sudden we are chasing them? WTF are you an idiot or are you the grand poobah of the legion of the miserable

3 star well-coached > 4 star not well-coached. You can certainly build a program with some good, well coached 3 star recruits and a few 4 stars...good pick up for depth if nothing else.

It not his fault that he got behind in recruiting to Tennessee. We might just have to take what he can get the first year. But is he is as good of a coach as i think he is, he and his coaches can coach these kids up. Something i do not believe has been going on the last few years.

How are Auburn and Ark doing in recruiting with similar situations? No excuse to not do as well as those guys this year.

Some people need to realize TN has played out the "earned respect card" since when is a 3 star a bad recruit?

This class is the foundation the next 4 year's will be built on. How Butch evaluates determines the guys he can put on the field. A good coach who can't evaluate will not win for a long consistent period of time. Butch has shown he can do both, as his players are well coached, and they get drafted also.

you could be right on this, but the offer lists are far from great. also i have seen this kid first hand and was not impressed. he was on a great team, and it was just one game i saw him, but didn't see anything special. if osu did offer him i would be surprised because they are in on the top dogs and from what i saw he is going to need alot of seasoning.

Different systems look for different qualities. Rumor is Ohio St, Michigan, which are two good teams running similar systems to the one UT will be running, went after him. So, I see the quality teams, looking for similar things to UT, seeking this guy.

UT got him.

I welcome him.

Also, he will have time to be seasoned and developed.

Define your "boat load" by posting the exact number of 5,4,3 star Saban signees for the last three years. :zeitung_lesen:

(per rivals)

2012 - #1

three 5 star players;

fourteen 4 star players;

nine 3 star players. (**** Bama 3 stars were mostly highly rated and highly sought)

2011 - #1

three 5 star players;

fourteen 4 star players;

five 3 star players. (again Bama 3 stars very coveted)

2010 - #5

one 5 star player;

fifteen 4 star players;

nine 3 star players.

2009 - #1 class

four 5 star players;

fourteen 4 star players;

nine 3 star players.

2008 - #1

three 5 star players;

nineteen 4 star players;

eight 3 stars.

Bama's roster has been filled with 4 and 5 star players (well over 50% of their team has been made up of 4 and 5 star players) which is the reason for Sabin's sustained success and multiple championships!!!!!!

We got Saban?!!! Hell yea!!!

not the game i saw him in.

So you went to a game and sat and watched an offensive lineman who wasn't committed to us or even being talked about as a possible take for us at the time? Sounds like BS to me.

And what do you know about evaluating offensive linemen anyways? How did you learn how to judge technique and potential?

According to Scout
Tackles 5*-1, 4*-27, 3*-77
Gaurds 5*-1, 4*-14, 3*-68
Centers 5*-0, 4*-2, 3*-23

Currently committed to SEC teams
5*-0, 4*-9, 3*-22

Out of the two 5* and the 41 -4* most our already committed to schools, so as you can see most of the committed linemen in the SEC are 3* players.

Thanks for the answer. It's what I expected but wasn't sure and makes me wonder why anyone would complain about a 3* OL. Glad to have Dylan onboard. Go Vols!

Agree! Beating Vandy is like getting a trophy for participation. It means nothing! If our fans start setting the bar at Vandy and Missourri, we are in trouble.
