Dy'shawn Mobley

I'm going to make a point in this thread just so it can be case closed. Dy'Shawn Mobley is not going to UT as Randall Cobb did not. It won't make or break this recruiting class. He did not run a 4.4 forty and Dooley wisely didn't offer him a scholarship. If he goes to Kentucky and becomes the next Emmitt Smith than we can all eat crow--but whom around here would like to take bets he does not? Who offered this kid? Kentucky? Toledo? Mississippi State? One theme in common is those schools will never have BCS Championship aspirations. Every circumstance and every kid is different, but ask yourself one thing: why would you burn a scholly on a kid that doesn't run a 4'4? Wouldn't you focus your recruiting in the states of Florida, Georgia, and NC. Yes, a local kid is nice here and there but it's like rewarding kids who participate in the race. Not everyone gets a trophy--sometimes it needs to be about the best of the best!

Thanks for another stupid post saying the same thing that's been said about 600 times previously in the thread. Amazing how confident you were that this would close the case. No offense but stick your overrated 40 times up your arse. I'm sick of idiots acting like that's the measuring stick for every RB. Does Alden Hill run a 4.4?

btw, It doesn't belong in the Mobley thread but we have been searching the country for 3 years now looking for an elite RB and once again it appears we have came up short so I'm not buying your best of the best theme.

No Hill does not. The difference is the coaches thought enough of him to extend an offer and take him as part of this class. Mobley, not so much. I would have rather had Cross than Mobley.

Ok but I don't think I was responding to your post. I was responding to the guy saying "why would we extend a scholly to someone that doesn't run a 4.4 40. That's just a dumb statement. Forty times are not the end all be all of running backs. My comments really had nothing to do with whether we should offer Mobley. I have no problem not offering Mobley. I think our running back recruiting is going no where fast though.

Personally I would rather have Cross than Borque especially since I don't have to much faith that Borque will make it in the classroom. I think we let Cross go because CJG thought he could pull Mike Davis and it may have backfired on us. Borque has talent but I just don't trust he has the mindset to handle college.

Hill ran a 4.5 in front of CDD

I do not doubt it. I do know he has never ran a 4.4. I think he will be a great RB for us. He is a true RB and I would much rather see us taking guys like him over tweeners like Bourque. Grice is the one I think we missed out on this year. Maybe in 2013 we can land that top 5 type RB who will come in as a game changer from day 1.

Grice wouldn't qualify for any SEC school. I'm not sure what his plans are but it doesn't look like he will be playing at any bcs school next year.

Allegedly suspended 2 games by KY for complaining over Twitter about coaches and playing time.

where's the poster that continues to claim we made a big mistake not getting Mobley?

Seen this earlier. The guy is a baller! He expected to come in and split time in the backfield or something but he needs to shut up and wait his turn.

You may be speaking of me although I never said that CDD made a "big" mistake by not offering Mobley. I did think we should have offered because if things didn't work out at RB he would make a good linebacker. I also thought he was a more natural RB then Borque and a better local prospect then Blanc or Bullock. This "alleged" suspension is just that for now and not a big deal if true. If CDD had the balls to suspend Da'Rick every time he tweeted something he would have been gone long before he was. I would rather see a player work his butt off in practice and complain about playing time then someone run home to momma the first time he was hit.

btw, why is nobody asking for a link? Where's the "link" or it didn't happen people? My search has came up completely empty on this story. Not saying it's not true but where's the proof?

No we weren't, we were never close to offering. We went and watched him a couple of times, but were never interested in what we saw

How do you know what the coaches thought? Dooley is very secret on his recruiting. Dooley has offered several players that people were completely clueless about before the offer so don't act like you know anything about what the staff was thinking about Mobley. You say "we" like your on the staff but I'm guessing your not.

As a general rule, you shouldn't recruit kids with apostrophes in their names. They tend to get kicked off the team. Just sayin'.

Did you just make this up? There has not been one word about this actually occurring anywhere. Maybe you dreamed this?

Not suspended. The tweet was removed within 20 minutes. He played last Saturday against Kent State. Didn't really do much. Needs to shut up and hit the weight room.

The kid is upset that he didnt get the snaps he thought he should have and he vented. Imagine Twittet in the 70's and 80's. Now imagine how many players would have done the same thing. Its a generational thing most cant understand because it wasnt around then. Like most kids now dont understand how we made it day to day without cell phones

Do you realize that Mobley is a true freshman and is already the strongest RB to ever play at Kentucky? Joker Phillips recently said that Mobley could dead lift close to 700 lbs. which is unreal for a RB especially a true freshman. Mobley may have tweeted that he would like to get more playing time big deal. Rather have that then a guy that sits on the bench game after game without a care in the world. Saying Mobley needs to hit the weight room is laughable though and makes me think your a typical Kentucky basketball uh.... I mean football fan.

If you saw his "runs" last Saturday, you'd say the same.

Must have been the world's shortest suspension. He played against Kent State. 6 rushes for 19 yards and his longest was 9. Kentucky only used 3 running backs against Kent State. Against Louisville he had a catch. Stats came from ESPN. How he looked, I have no idea.
