Would love to see him at UT, but it's not going to happen. I'm torn, I would love for him to be another Reggie Cobb and be successful. But don't want him to come back and haunt UT. How about he is awesome for UK and puts up huge yards and TD's, but loses to UT 4 years in a row! I can live with that.
Who is Reggie Cobb, there is Randle Cobb from Alcoa
Reggie Cobb was a great running back for the Vols in the early '90s. He was from Knoxville. He joined with Chuck Webb to create the 'CobbWebb'...we had T-shirts with a big spider web on them and everything....we were cool once....and young
Now we just old and grumpy
I'm going to make a point in this thread just so it can be case closed. Dy'Shawn Mobley is not going to UT as Randall Cobb did not. It won't make or break this recruiting class. He did not run a 4.4 forty and Dooley wisely didn't offer him a scholarship. If he goes to Kentucky and becomes the next Emmitt Smith than we can all eat crow--but whom around here would like to take bets he does not? Who offered this kid? Kentucky? Toledo? Mississippi State? One theme in common is those schools will never have BCS Championship aspirations. Every circumstance and every kid is different, but ask yourself one thing: why would you burn a scholly on a kid that doesn't run a 4'4? Wouldn't you focus your recruiting in the states of Florida, Georgia, and NC. Yes, a local kid is nice here and there but it's like rewarding kids who participate in the race. Not everyone gets a trophy--sometimes it needs to be about the best of the best!
The best way for him to show the staff that he can ball is to come to camp and do it, in person. If he didn't do it, then he has only himself to blame. If he did do it and didn't make an impression on the staff, then that settles the matter as well. Look at Cody Blanc. I keep asking myself why he is in this class and hasn't been asked to "look around." The reason is, he showed out at camp. He didn't need Rivals or Scout to be impressed. He just needed to do so in front of the decision makers. That is one big difference between Randall Cobb and Mobley...Cobb was speedy. Kid will definitely have the same chip on his shoulder when he plays UT, but four years will determine if he ends up being another superstar.

Just note that he played almost the entire game on both sides of the ball so on one of those runs he was tired. I agree he does not have world class speed but I think he has enough to play at UT.
