EA College Football, 2024 (PS5/XSX)

Easy killer, if your likeness was worth more than a rusted penny, you would want to be compensated as well.
It would be nice if some of these groups actually gave an idea of what they think reasonable compensation should be for each player that will be in the game. Are they planning on sticking w/ 70 players for each squad? That one idiot from Clemson made his argument using Madden as the basis. I’m not doing the math, but I’m pretty sure there are a lot more D1 players than NFL players.

Yeah, yelling "we want more than they're offering us!" without mentioning how much you want isn't getting them anywhere. They're not negotiating anything, but just complaining thinking that changes everything....

I really do hope that this game comes out when it's originally intended to,but as time goes and greed running wild,I'm not sure if it will.

As mentioned earlier, I'd be happy for AI players.

If I were to think of the term "greed" in this situation, first thing that pops up for me is EA.

When I was that age, nobody thought that way.
Because the status quo was wrong back then. I dont know how they will ultimately do it, whether player to player or collectively, but $500 is insulting for some of these players that EA is going to rake in money using. I guarantee they will have ultimate team and they will be selling cards of players like they do in Madden. That's where the money is and I dont blame these kids for wanting a better deal. Again, not sure what that looks like, but $500 a player isnt it IMO.

I’m not sure it’s the kids that are the ones that are wanting a better deal. Seems to me every player that’s chimed in thus far has been all in, $500 or not. I think it wouldn’t be a terrible idea for some of these guys in 2024 who will be stars to peddle the game on instagram and show them playing it for some extra $. I don’t think it would be terrible for there to be a royalty deal in place, where if they sell X # of units there’s another check in the mail.

What should the profit sharing be? Just saying it isnt enough doesnt work, because there have been plenty of players who have said it is enough.

Truthfully the $500 is more than most of the players in the game are going to be worth. It’s only the top guys that truly move the needle money wise in terms of sales and it’s impossible to negotiate with every single player.

i think just being happy to be in the game is a better status quo than demanding more more more for me me me, but to each their own.

I dont know, but it looks like they really didnt negotiate with the players and just threw out a $500 number without really sitting at the table. Not sure what the proper compensation would be but it’s probably more messy and difficult than anyone realizes.

Kinduv like demanding they just give their likeness away for a couple of dollars while EA profits like bandits. But hey, anything to make sure we get a video football game….**** them kids.

I hate EA as much as the next guy, and I’m convinced the game will be DOA if it even releases due to Madden being consistently awful for a decade now.

But I would happily let myself be in the game for free because it’d be something I could tell ny kids about later on. You don’t think players from 2002-2013 are bragging to their kids today about being in these games?

I think those players wish they were compensated more than they can brag to their kids about being exploited by EA. JMO though.

I would hope they aren’t still worried about $500 from EA if they have kids and are in their 30-40s
I would imagine that if the game has better than expected sales performance the players may get a bigger cut in the next game. In theory they could make $2500 + if they’re a freshman or if they redshirt . If they’re really marketable I doubt they will even care about the check they get from EA bc they’ll be getting $ from other NIL opportunities. This isn’t Madden where you’ll have Mahomes or Josh Allen for 10+ years in a franchise, it’s a short run.

$500 bucks per player is what the previous lawsuits against EA worked out to be IIRC.

they were never going to please everyone, and shouldn't have too imo. There is of course going to be some kid, or his parent, or their handler, or whatever, saying their kid deserves a million dollars. without some established baseline of what is acceptable its impossible to move the discussion forward.

500 was the start, lets see the counter. in this case who ever is boycotting should be seen as worse than EA because they aren't even proposing anything, yet alone working to come to an agreement.

Then we agree that $500 is nothing and insulting for some student athletes who could be demanding at least 5 figures. JMO
what player is brining in at least 10k value to NCAA '24? what player are at least 142 people specifically getting the game to play as?

Are EA's sales going to see a marked difference between a release where they have N, I, L, included vs a release where there is no NIL? Assuming it actually does launch.

You dont think players like Cj Stroud and Bryce Young would generate more that 10K? EA will 10000% have a college form of MUT in their game and they a ton off that. 30% of their revenue was from ultimate team modes.

Yes, so I am not sure why everyone is butthurt about the players wanting a better deal.

I think those are old numbers. They stopped reporting UT revenue this year. It's probably over $3 billion now and closer to 50% of it's revenue. I think Fifa 23 alone was estimated to be 2 billion.Pretty mind boggling, It's getting out of hand IMO. How many times have you guys ended up in the marketplace by accident? That's no accident.

simply put no I don't think their N, I, L, would bring in 10k specifically.

Replace Stroud/Young with an AI generated NIL player with the same stats, and you will get the same results. Especially if you are going to have so many options to bring in pretty much any player you want. and that FREE mods will get you whoever you want.

its not as simple as saying that 30% of the player base uses these players, they need to show that 30% of the player base wouldn't buy the game unless their specific NIL was included.

and with the 10k dollar amount that would need to be the profit that single player brought in. offset by whatever marketing, development, and incorporation is included in that one player being added to the game. there are more than 5k players in the P5, even just producing the Top 10% would be a huge bit of work if EA is doing it to a point where you can saying its driving sales.
