EA says TB has gotten a bit if a bad rap and mentioned some of the issues...

Got me to thinking a bit...

The freshman throat slashing was cool at the time (maybe not the gesture itself, but the swagger was). Chest bumping about the same.

Beer bottle incident is inexcusable but a how many of us didn't do something stupid and even illegal in a college drunken stupor? I remember something about a late night Christmas tree excursion as a pledge that wouldn't have gone over well had we been caught.

His lack of emotion was frustrating at times, but he had already been called on the carpet for the throat slashing.

It seems worth thinking what would our feelings towards him be if he weren't here when we were all about ready to kick our dog over the overall state of the program? Or what if Hunter hadn't gotten hurt, or Da'Rick had stayed off the pot, or our D could've stopped ANYBODY last year?

Was he perfect? No. Neither was Casey (couldn't catch a shotgun snap in the rain), nor Crompton, nor, Andy Kelly, nor Jeff Francis...how much of a waste did T-Rob turn out to be? Even Peyton mooned a female trainer. Who threw the ball out of the back of the end zone on 4th down in the Blue Bonnet Bowl (I think - been a few beers (or years) ago)? Was it Condredge or Streeter?

My point is, anybody that didn't win 9 or 10 games during this dark period has had to take a ton of crap from us attitude wise.

Just tossing it out there for discussion...

Here's to better days ahead!

Agree. I am thankful that TB and the offense could keep us in some games given our historically bad defense. I wish him nothing but the best in the NFL. However, I, like many others, am ready to turn the page with a new QB, a new coach, a new D, and a new attitude.

As a person that never was in a "college drunken stupor", I can`t feel sorry for him. If the beer bottle incident was "inexcusable" why are you making excuses for it?

Tyler Bray is the epitome of wasted talent. A 3600 yd, 34 TD season with nothing to show for it.

That's not all his fault, though. If he had a competent D, he could have won us 3-4 more games. He did just about everything you can ask of a junior SEC QB.

I was in College in the early 80's. I'm pretty sure the statute of limitations has run out on the stupid crap I did.

At least I hope so. :)

What if he didn't have 3 NFL receivers to throw to? What if he had a real coach? We'll never know the answers.

I don't blame Bray for how everything went down these past three years, but I can't say he had any heroic efforts either. I doubt he'll do anything notable in the pros, but I wish him the best of luck.

It's all positive from here on out, we need bray to do well now that Peyton's career is towards the end. Anyone who isn't rooting for him is butthurt that our defense wasn't worth a **** during his whole career. 45 points against UGA was enough and 20 at home against Florida could have been enough if the defense didn't lay an egg the 2H. Rooting for u bray

Regarding Bray: appreciate the good parts, criticize the stupid parts. Wish a former Vol well in the pros. Why is this so difficult?

I totally agree with you I hope he does well in the NFL. I just think all the bad press he received was his own fault.

I think had he had a RS year things wouldve been much different for him, i dont think he handled that early success very well.

To each his own. I never cared for Arian Foster but many others do. I guess its how they rub you.

To add to the sentiment of this thread, iirc, when Kiffin jumped ship, TB said he was committed to UT and not any particular coach. I really wish we had him for another year. I think this staff could've developed in him a winning attitude and we could watch another former Vol have a nice professional career.

Sounds like someone who didn't go to college. Or at the very least, missed out on some fun.

Wrong

I had a lot of fun, I was always the designated driver.

And I never said I didn`t drink, I just knew when enough was enough.

Well, then I'm sure you saw your friends do some stupid things in college. That doesn't make them bad people. Part of the college experience is the freedom to make your own stupid choices, and to learn from them.
