*****Early National Signing Day Thread*****

The real question is why is David Sanders the only 5 star in our class. We need to be getting 2-3 a year to stay in playing field with top of SEC.

Going off On3 Recruiting Rankings,

Tennessee is behind Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Auburn (WTF), Texas A&M, and LSU. They are barely ahead of Florida.

We should only be behind Alabama, Georgia, and Texas. Our recruiting is still not there. How are we letting Auburn, LSU, and Aggie out recruit us?

Technically Bru and Oregon WR were five stars. I think Heard was one also.

We have done fairly well in the transfer realm, I agree on that. I just wish we could push a little stronger in recruiting. I understand not being able to beat out Alabama or Georgia but there have been many years where we are still losing to Florida, LSU, Auburn, Aggie, etc. and we have been out performing them on the field.

Now granted, some of this is still related to our probation but I thought we would start turning the corner this year and next year.

Ceremony at his HS with teammates that are also signing is being held best Tuesday.

I think he signs today or tomorrow, but it'll be kept quiet for the ceremony next week.
Which doesn’t make a ton of sense. Early signing period ends on the 6th, next Tuesday is the 10th, so is this other sports that those kids are signing or what is the reason for holding off for any of those kids to next week after signing day is done?

Yeah, i don’t know how or when we will get in top 3-4 in sec. We all said “win and they will come.@. Yet Auburn, aTm, LSU, and possibly FL out recruiting us. And we are playoff bound. The state of Texas and FL are loaded with talent but I thought we would be higher. We have the portal so maybe that will make an difference

I think Pearce is elite, and the rest of our DL is good. Part of the dominance of our DL is the number of good DL we have. It allows us to rotate. And it's also where the coaching I mentioned comes in. When the NFL draft rolls around, other than Pearce, who on the DL will be a HIGH draft choice. I expect ONL and Big O and Simmons will all get drafted, but will they go high in the draft? Sampson is an exceptional talent, and criminally underrated. The rest of the RB room is good, but not elite. At least not yet. And McCoy at CB is also an exceptional talent, but I wouldn't call the rest of our DB portal haul "elite". We are a good team. Our coaching matches up well with teams that have elite talent. We beat Bama. The game with Georgia was closer than it looked. But Bama and Georgia will probably see several players go in the first two rounds of the draft while we'll probably see a couple, at most. Other teams having more talent than we do hasn't slowed us down much because we tend to get the full potential out of the talent we get, whereas a lot of these elite potential guys don't reach their full potential with the teams they choose.
our Dline outside of Pearce is elite. Hopefully we have some guys ready to go because most of the 3 deep at DLine is leaving.

5 seniors on DLine
Dominic Bailey
Bryson Eason
Omar Norman-Lott
Elijah Simmons
Omari Thomas

Plus Pearce that's 6 bodies we have to replace. Hopefully we don't lose guys to portal esp at tackle. I would bet on at least 5 of those 6 in an NFL training camp maybe all 6. Pretty sure that counts as elite? Edge we are actually probably fine.. its DT where it could get rough. but we have some guys in the wings waiting their turn and hitting the portal probably does not make a lot of sense with them knowing those snaps are freed up.

The bizarre recruitment of Shamar Arnoux.

April 2023 - Commits to the Vols
Feb 2024 - Decommits from Vols
June 2024 - Commits to USC
November 2024 - Flips to Auburn
Today - Signs with FSU

This kid is all over the place. But he went from the penthouse (TN) to the outhouse (FSU).

Additionally, there are very few OT ready to come out of HS. We had one, and ge got drafted. We simply lost Seaton.

Second place is first loser. Our coming in second place for kids showed this year. Management, and recruiting hasnt been good at HS level.

It has some. It isn't even frustration with the coaches, just the circumstances. Why aren't these players more interested in playing for Heupel after what he has done.

I don’t understand why we aren’t able to get any of these big time secondary recruits or receivers yet the Bama’s, oregon, Texas, Georgias are able to stack them one after the other … our d has proven to be good, in the playoffs, nil is there … what’s the missing piece ?

Bailey and Eason still have a year of eligibility.

Maybe it is geography, not sure. I tend to agree. Heupel continues to go after them and our NIL seems strong but we just keep losing out, especially in key areas like offensive line.

LSU is a better program with FAR better in-state recruiting. A&M is not a better program, but has the in-state talent as well

LSU is 8-4 and talking about firing their coach.

Tennessee was a better program than LSU in the Fulmer era. We are starting to pull away from them. LSU hasn't done anything since 2019.

Josephs could potentially look at leaving early as well. If he does, that would be our 2 best Edge players gone.

Like I said, I do expect those DL guys to play in the NFL, but we define elite differently. I see elite as top of the draft, you see it as making a team. That's fine.

I lean towards them paying him and getting another year.

We had two. One transferred to Oklahoma.

And LSU was better from '01-'19. Again in-state talent isn't even close.
